3.1 Waterproof Requirements
Take waterproof measures for the floor in the equipment room. Before you install a cabinet support, apply
waterproof paint to the floor where the cabinet support is installed and apply waterproof adhesive to the
mounting holes for the cabinet support.
When an LDU is installed, fully enclose it by using a waterproof cofferdam and ensure that the distance
between the waterproof cofferdam and the bottom panel of the LDU is larger than 200 mm.

3.2 Water Supply and Drainage Requirements (Chilled Water and

Condensate Water)
3.2.1 Obtaining Water Pipes and Auxiliary Materials
Purchase water supply and return pipes based on the engineering survey results and the auxiliary material
list provided by R&D personnel. Determine the method for routing chilled water pipes.
Purchase sufficient auxiliary materials, such as thermal insulation pipes and pipe clips, to improve the
thermal insulation effect for the water pipes and fix the water pipes.
Check the layout of the main chilled water pipes. Generally, water supply pipes are routed from the top and
left, and water return pipes are routed from the bottom and right. The cabinet support shall not interfere
with the main chilled water pipes or waterproof cofferdam.

3.2.2 Creating a Condensate Drainage Plan

When condensate water is discharged from the top, connect forcible condensate drainpipes. When
condensate water is discharged from the bottom, connect automatic condensate drainpipes and forcible
condensate drainpipes. Check the routes of the condensate drainpipes. Connect the condensate drainpipes to
the nearby main pipes, ensuring that the condensate drainpipes are not bent by a large angle and no trap is
generated.

3.3 Power Supply Requirements

The NetCol5000-C030 uses dual single-phase power supplies.
Voltage: 200-240 V AC (2 * AC inputs), 50/60 Hz

3.4 Grounding Requirements

Based on international requirements, the joint grounding mode is applied to telecommunication stations.
The working ground, protection ground, and lightening protection ground of the telecommunication
equipment are connected. Sub ground bars are set in the equipment rooms. The sub ground bars are
connected to the main ground bar over copper ground pigtails with a proper length and superb connectivity.
Do not install connectors or circuit breakers on ground cables. The ground resistance shall meet the local
standards and regulations of a country or region. The preferable ground resistance is less than or equal to 1
ohm.

3.5 Personnel Requirements

During the installation, conduct installation training for technical personnel and familiarize them with
information about the mechanical installation, power supply, cable connection, power-on commissioning,
and maintenance. This facilitates equipment maintenance and handover.
Ensure that the construction personnel meet the following requirements:
 Huawei contractor technical personnel must be trained and qualified by Huawei and be familiar with
the installation and commissioning methods.
 Customer technical personnel must be trained by Huawei and be familiar with the installation and
operation methods.

4 Installation Requirements

NetCol5000-C030 In Row Cooling Product V200R001C01 Installation Preparation
Guide INTERNAL

4.1 Site Property

Obtain site entry permission and equipment installation permission.

4.2 Weather
The operating temperature ranges from 4ºC to 55ºC. Use glycol solution with the specified concentration
when the operating temperature is lower than 4ºC.
The operating humidity is less than or equal to 95% RH.
The preceding data applies to the application scenarios where the altitude is lower than 1000 m. When the
altitude is higher than 1000 m, reduce the cooling capacity by 7% to 9% as the altitude increases by 1000
m.

4.3 Equipment Room

The following requirements must be met:
 Civil work of the equipment room and corridors is complete, and the internal walls are dry. No water
or dust leaks in through the ceiling. Decoration materials are fire resistant.
 The equipment room provides superb thermal insulation effect, and the walls and floor are protected
against moisture. The doors and windows are sealed with dust-proof rubber strips. You are advised to
use double-layer glass windows and seal them properly. During system operation, all doors and
windows in the equipment room are closed to reduce the additional load.
 When the equipment room is deployed at a high floor, transportation tools and facilities, such as
freight elevators and pallet trucks, are used to transport the equipment.
Generally, the minimum dimensions (H x W x D) of the car for a freight elevator are 2400 mm x 1200
mm x 1500 mm, and the minimum dimensions (H x W) of the door are 2250 mm x 1000 mm. If the
dimensions do not meet the preceding requirements, the difficulty of moving equipment into or out of
the freight elevator increases.
The dimensions of the door for the equipment room meet the transportation requirements for
equipment. Transportation tools and facilities, such as pallet trucks, are used to move the equipment to
the installation positions. Door locks are keys are intact.
Generally, the height and width of the door are more than 2.3 m and 1 m respectively. If the
dimensions do not meet the preceding requirements, the difficulty of moving equipment into or out of
the equipment room increases.
 The floor in the equipment room is flat and clean, providing a bearing capacity of more than 350 kg.
 The capacities of the power supplies, power distribution cabinets (PDCs), and circuit breakers meet
the construction requirements.

4.4 Layout
4.4.1 Layout Principles
During the installation, connect the LCUs to the LDU by using hoses or stainless steel pipes. Fix the water
pipes connected to the LDU separately by using U-shaped pipe clips and wrap thermal insulation cotton
around the water pipes, ensuring that the thermal insulation cotton of a water pipe is not in contact with that
of other water pipes.

Figure 1-4 Pipe layout and fixation

4.4.2 Pipe Layout and Hole Drilling Requirements

The connection distance of a hose is less than 20 m, the bend radius of a pipe is more than 220 mm, and the
pipes are not in contact with each other. After thermal insulation cotton is installed, the distance between
woo pipes is more than 25 mm.

Figure 1-5 Pipe spacing

A 20-mesh (or more) Y-shaped filter is installed between the main water supply pipe and a pipe connected
to an LCU. The main chilled water pipe is connected after the LDU is properly installed.
A gradient of 5‰ is reserved during layout of the main condensate drainpipe to ensure smooth drainage.
Condensate drainpipes connected to the LCUs are not bent by a large angle, and no trap is generated.
Pipes are routed through a wall in parallel and wrapped with protection tubes (alternatively, vibration
isolation rubber pads are installed in the holes where the pipes are routed).
After the installation is complete, the holes on the wall are sealed and protected against water, and the pipes
do no cross each other.

4.5 Support Installation

When pipes are routed from the bottom of the LCUs, the water supply pipes, water return pipes, and
condensate drainpipes are routed from the bottom of the cabinet. A raised floor is required. You are advised
to install the cabinet on a raised support. A certain gradient must be reserved for the main condensate
drainpipe to ensure smooth drainage. Therefore, the raised support must be higher than 300 mm.
The LDU is installed on a support enclosed by a waterproof cofferdam. Waterproof adhesive is applied to
the mounting holes on the support.
Huawei provides a series of raised supports with varied heights. You can also obtain related drawings from
Huawei and manufacture the raised supports by yourself.

4.6 Operating Environment

The operating environment of the equipment is clean and resistant to corrosive, waste, and chemical gases.
ESD and electromagnetic shielding (EMS) measures are taken for the equipment.

4.7 Cabling
The following requirements must be met:
 Cables are routed along the cable troughs on the cable trays of the telecommunication equipment.
Moisture-proof, mouse-proof, and fireproof measures are taken for the cables.
 Signal cables and power cables are routed separately to avoid interference.

4.8 Safety
The following requirements must be met:
 Fire control devices are installed in the equipment room.
 All sockets in the equipment room are labeled.
 No hazardous objects, such as flammable or explosive materials, are stored in the equipment room.
 Protective covers are installed for reserved holes on the floor.
 National and local fireproof standards and regulations are met.

4.9 Communication
Telephones and fax machines are installed in the equipment room for communication.
