Project Title: Project EDGAR in the New Normal ( Engagement in the

Development and Growing of Pupils’ Ability Through Reading in the New
Normal)

Rationale:

Engaged learners are motivated, stirred and willing to advance effort in

learning. According to experts, there are five ways to engage and motivate
learners during the time of distance learning: 1) set clear goals; 2) make
learning convenient; 3) get creative with course content; 4) reward learners
for engagement; and 5) create open communication channels
Even we are now experiencing pandemic, the love of reading for
children should not stop, so Josephine F, Khonghun Special Education Center
find a way for children to continuously engage and motivate children to read.

Project Description

A. General Objectives

a.1 instill in the young minds of the pupils the importance of reading
a.2 to measure and describe the reading performance of the Grade 1-3
learners in both English and Filipino languages in oral reading, silent reading
and listening comprehension
a.3 ease anxiety among learners during pandemic.

B. Performance Target

b.1 measured the learners performance in reading

b.2 developed the ability to comprehend

C. Target Population

The project is designed for learners in Grades 1-3 classes enrolled at

Josephine F. Khonghun SPED Center.

D. Strategies to Undertake

d.1 Secure permission from the Division office through the Principal to
conduct the said activity.
d.2 Encourage the pupils and parents to actively participate in the project.
d.3 Meet parents before the conduct of the Project EDGAR ( Face to face or
Virtual meeting)
d.3 The PHIL -IRI will be used as an instrument for the project.
d.4 Supplementary materials /books like Kasanayan sa Pagbasa and
Developmental Reading for grades 1-3 will be used.
d.5 reading program will be done online / virtually.
d.6 reading program will be held after the Second Quarter

E. Budgetary Requirement

No budgetary requirement.

The member should have his/her own computer and internet connection.
The moderator will meet the members online.
