TOPIC: LIQUIDS

GRADE LEVEL: Grade 8

TIME ALLOTMENT: 1 hour

TEACHER :

CONTENT:

The Particle Nature of Mattes

CONTENT STANDARD:

The learners demonstrate an understanding of the liquids and its function.

LEARNING COMPETENCY:

The learners should be able to define liquids and enumerate and describe the properties of liquids.

LEARNING MATERIALS:

Science Textbook NISMED 2012. pp. 80-81.

OBJECTIVES
The Learners should be able to accomplish the following with at least 75% rate of success:

a. define liquids;

b. enumerate and describe the properties of liquids;

c. cite examples of each of the properties of liquid;

d. apply the concepts through series of activities; and

e. participate actively in the activities.

ENGAGE
Show a video clip to of cycle of liquids to the class Projector/Tv
and let the students identify it. Laptop
1. What is liquid?
2. What are the properties of liquid?
3. What is diffusion?
4. What is surface tension?
5. What is evaporation?
EXPOLRE
Divide the students into groups of five. Each
group has its own leader, secretary, time-keeper,
presenter, and material manager. The students
will bring-out the materials that were assigned to
bring. Likewise, provide the needed Discuss the
objectives and procedure of the activities.
Further, review safety procedures in the conduct
of the experiment.

Let the students perform the activity and answer Projector/Tv

the guide questions. Do maximum supervision Laptop
while the students perform the group activity. Worksheet
Water
Activity : investigating the properties of liquids Oil
1. what you need to do is pour the water and oil clear glasses
in separate bowls slowly. alcohol
2. what you need to do is to drop a small amount dye
of dye in glass of water. bowl
3. What happened to the water when the straw razor blade
was placed in the glass? When the tip of the piece of paper
paper was submerged? thin straw
4. What happened to the volume of the alcohol in juice
the container? In your palm
EXPALIN
After the activity, the students present their
answers to the guide questions. A representative
in each group will present and discuss the Worksheet
observations and answers to the guide questions
based on the experiments conducted.
ELABORATE
Strengthen the concepts gained by the students
in the activities through lecture-discussion and
video-clip presentation containing of cycle of Projector
liquid. Correct misconceptions, as the need Laptop
arises. Marker

Evaporation or vaporization is the transformation
of a liquid into a gas. If vaporization takes place in
an open container, as in the alcohol in the cap,
the molecules diffuse away from the surface of
the liquid and evaporate.
Since molecules with most energy (fast moving)
escape and molecules with less energy are left
behind, the remaining, liquid becomes slightly
cooler than the surroundings. That is why
evaporation has a cooling effect.
