What is the importance of 'social media' in our daily lives?

Going back to the recent discussion, brief history of the Internet was discussed, as
well as the social media as its one of its branches, that is a website, application or an online
channel that allows media users to interact with each other; sharing and interchanging
feedbacks or responses due to a certain subject being viewed or discussed. People rely on
the media in their daily lives. It helps us in a way where we can be virtually interactive
through messages and calls in social media platforms, we use to interconnect with them
online. Many people also use social media to express themselves: sharing daily habits,
emotions, rants, and anything they want to share that sometimes they tend to disregard of
thinking first what the consequences or reactions of others to it would be. In addition, the
media has become part of everyone's mundane lives, and such dependence has resulted in
the media's binding influence with its audience. Moreover, having social media is a great
tool that was successfully innovated as it makes our environment more convenient. Similar
to the Internet, we can also acquire information in social media as it deals with the desire of
netizens to have information as to what's popular or news that is widely spread in various
social media platforms. That's when social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram,
YouTube, etc. that allows people to share online content and media with others, where it's
also an excellent way to promote products or services through ads or just by posting it
online. Furthermore, also the means of getting feedback, critics or recommendations, it aids
us to do better. There are netiquettes we must follow, as it guides our privacy and social
being to not be carried away and to not be easily deceived by social media. In conclusion,
social media is one of the sources of information and entertainment and binds our
influence with others. Just like in a quote that Gigi Hadid once said, “We get to live in a time
that we get to use social media as a tool.” This is where we can have an impact on people.
