Though 25 ppm of ammonia is allowed as its Threshold Limit but Pakarab Fertilizers intends to keep it to the lowest side by providing appropriate guidelines and implementation of control measures. SCOPE: This procedure ‘applies on all PFL plant sites and areas in the immediate vi Pakarab Plantsite boundary wall. OBJECTIVES: The objective of this procedure is to: 3.1 Enable the Laboratory and HSE personnel to effectively monitor the ammonia in air within Plantsite and its immediate vicinity. 3.2 To establish guidelines pertaining to ammonia in air survey based on international best practices and Contemporaneous Fertilizers Plant in Pakistan. REQUIREMENTS: Following equipment shall be required to be handy for ammonia in air survey. 4.1 A Drager Pump. 4.2. Drager tubes for ammonia monitoring. 4.3 Trained Laboratory Technician. SAMPLING GUIDELINES 5.1. Typical areas to be monitored may include following; * Ammonia Plant Back-end side © Nitric Acid Plants Ammonia circuits « Urea Plant CAN Plant Ammonia Circuit «NP Plant Ammonia circuit * Effluent Treatment Plant & Dirty Cooling Tower «CAN Bulk and Product Stores ROUTE PREPARED BY REVIEWED BY Kamal Shah, Mati ur Rab Siddiqui | Farrukh Iqbal HSE 4.4.6 Desig/Sign. | Sub Engr. PROCEDURE 6.1. Ensure to calibrate the sampling pump to the recommended flow rate. 6.2 Connect the sampling tube to the pump 6.3. Place the sampling tube in the breathing zone as directed by HSE personnel. 6.4 Take a sample by making the 10 strokes of Drager pump to draw a suitable amount of sampling air. 6.5 Take the reading on the tube and note it down. 6.6 Daily samples of most critical areas of Plantsite shall be taken and recorded by Laboratory and any anomaly shall be immediately notified to Management and HSE. 6.7 A thorough survey of all potentially contaminated areas by Laboratory must be done for all areas on quarterly basis.
