SEVENTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (C)
FIRST READING
Gn 18:20–32
God is willing to spare sinful cities for the sake of only a handful of good people.
Here we also find the intercessory prayer of the just man, Abraham.
In those days, the LORD said: "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so
great,
and their sin so grave,
that I must go down and see whether or not their actions
fully correspond to the cry against them that comes to me.
I mean to find out."
RESPONSORIAL PSALM
Psalm 138:1-2, 2-3, 6-7, 7-8

n the hospitality offered to Jesus by Martha and Mary,
we see two complementary ways to welcome him in our life.
This is for us an encouragement to open our hearts in welcome to the Lord
and offer him both our service and our devout attention.
Guide Pope Francis, bishops, priests, and deacons that they may radiate in their life
and service the Father’s love and care for his children. We pray. R.
Lead our government leaders that they may not see themselves as masters lording
over the people but as guardians entrusted with the welfare of all, especially the
poor and the vulnerable. We pray. R.
Give strength to those who are discouraged by the pains of their trials and sickness.
May they learn to grow through their suffering for you are with them, loving Father.
We pray. R.
Attend to the needs of our grandparents and the elderly. Let them experience your
abiding presence and care through their families and those who love them. We pray.
R.
Embrace our departed brethren into your loving and forgiving arms as they enter
your eternal communion. We pray. R.
Father, hear the prayers of your children. Help us grow in love for one another and
become perfect witnesses of your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
