Although he was a son of a cocoa farmer and live in a small village, My Beloved Father
was successful to become a Law Bachelor with a 4.00 GPA. This achievement made
him get an award as the best candidate for the Indonesian Muslim University, one of the
best private universities in Makassar City, South Celebes Province. He also successfully
finished his master's degree. Unfortunately, he stops his journey to get a doctoral
degree in the past. The main reason is that he has inadequate English skills. But his
spirit never dies. In his deep heart, higher education is always the most valuable thing in
this world.
He continue his life as a civil servant, marry with my mother, and finally gifted 4 precious
sons. Trying to express what is inside his heart, he wants all of his sons to have good
skills and knowledge of the English Language. Spending all of his age and energy, now
I and all of my brothers get adequate English skills. My skills in English always been a
special message for me from my father, that I have to continue my master's degree and
doctoral degree. I don't have enough constraints to stop my journey like my father. I am
proud and love to continue his spirit to getting higher education.

I start my journey to find specific interests in International Law in Senior High School. It
begins with an English community called Smada English Conversation Club (SECC)
one of the biggest organizations in my school with over one hundred members. I enjoy
the activity of the club, and as a result, I learned teamwork and management in that
community. I also get a wonderful experience by being elected as President of SECC
2013-2014. Besides that, I learn how to be a more competitive person by joining so
many English competitions. In the end, I finally succeed to be 1st winner of a model
united nation which introduced me to how the international community interacts and
makes an agreement for the goodness of their future.

Taking a part in Model United Nations Competition in my Senior High School is a
precious experience. It makes me understand how important the role of international
law is for the development of a country. It leads my interest to take my undergraduate
program Bachelor of Law in Hasanuddin University. Obviously, I take international law
as my concentration in my next study. Surprisingly, i can be accepted in special
admission path called SNMPTN, which allows you to be accepted into an Indonesian
state-owned university without any test. And this gave me self confidence to start my
journey at Hasanuddin University
I succeed to create many beneficial experiences on the campus. I finish my character-
building program called BCSS provided by the university. I join a legal writing
community called “LP2KI” which gave me skills in scientific writing and experience. It
brings me to the top, by winning several local and national essay competitions. I was
awarded as the 1st winner of the College Essay Competition 2014 at Hasanuddin
University. On the national level, i was also awarded as 2nd winner of the National
Essay Competition on Airrlangga Conference 2014, about ASEAN Socio-Cultural
Community at Airlangga University, Surabaya, and Finalist of Scientific Writing
Competition on Islamic law fair 2016, at Diponegoro University. Also, I ever compete as
a finalist in a legal drafting competition in 2015 at Indonesia University, Depok, DKI
Jakarta Province. All of these experiences build my character to be a more competitive
law student.
I had several great experiences with my dedication related to my study. My experience
in Environmental Law Clinic at law faculty. It has a special program to educate the
coastal community at Sembilan Island, SInjai, South Sulawesi Province. It teaches me
how to educate society about environmental law. I socialize on how to not do fish
bombing and cause destruction to the environment. It also gives me the experience that
we need to adopt international law and creates better international relationships to
create the sustainability of our environment.

Finally, I have a list of skillset and knowledge which can be "a provision" for my next
study. International law knowledge, English skill, scientific writing, legal drafting,
leadership, character building, and negotiation are examples of them. All of these
skillset and knowledge are relevant and supportive to pursuing my next graduate

Welcome to the crisis of humanity. People say that there are humans but no humanity.
Some country, they have their peace and sovereignty. At the same time in another
country, they are in armed conflict and lack their freedom, and lost their rights. It leads
me to take a specific study on international humanitarian law. According to history,
armed conflict may happen. But no reason to humiliate humanity even in war conditions.
For example, We do not have to kill innocent people, women, and children in wartime. It
is truly unbelievable, that the crisis on humanity today not only happens in war, but it is
happening in our lives and creating injustice among us.
Today, I stand to continue the spirit to get higher education by proposed Master of Laws
Program. Finishing my study of international law. makes me learn how developed
countries have an advanced system of law, a higher capacity of law enforcers, and high
attention to international law. We need to take advantage and also give a contribution to
international law. We need to identify which part of international law we need to adapt
and develop. At the same time with our richness of law culture and law practice, we also
need to find what we can give to international law. I believe that giving our best to
evaluate and develop our position in international society will bring Indonesia to be a
country with a good legal system and true justice in the future. Whatever changes are
made in international law and society, they will impact our beloved country, Indonesia.

Kontribusi untuk indonesia

Learning from experts in my graduate program makes me understand that we do not

lack smart people, but we lack truthful people. That’s how injustice is created among us.
Law enforcement needs to provide justice, not only about the capability of law
practitioners and law enforcers, but it’s about integrity. And, Finishing my law bachelor's
degree with a 3.96 GPA has always been a reminder for me that my true potential is in
the academic world. This leads me di decide that I want to give my best to create fair
law enforcement for the next generation by taking a part in education as a lecturer.

By studying abroad, the Competencies of graduates and a higher standard of the

academic system are what I searching for. World top universities can give me a different
quality of knowledge, insight, and experience about learning methods and law
enforcement, also how the nations interact. I consider that different quality of education
creates a different quality for the next law generation. These will support me as a better
lecturer and an international law expert in the future.

We know that in Indonesia, the law faculty of a university is “a factory” that generates
the next leaders who will take an important role in law enforcement. The capability of
lecturers and the quality of universities are the keys to creating expertise and integrity.
Expertise and integrity will create fair and truthful law enforcers. This leads to focus on
how to build integrity of the next generation as a lecturer.
Being a lecturer is just a little part of my goal. My true goal is to contribute to justice in
Indonesia by keeping educate the youth and society about law and integrity. To achieve
it, I know that I still have a list of tasks that I need to finish. I need to upgrade my
mindset, skillset, knowledge, and attitude. I will try my best to achieve my dream and
give my best for Indonesia.

Yang menghambat kita untuk berkontribusi

A multidimensional crisis is a crisis that affects so many parts of our lives. In Indonesia,
this crisis also happened. Economy crisis, Moral crisis, Healthcare crisis, and no
exception with legal and justice. In 2021, the Corruption Perception Index of Indonesia
at 38, and ranked 96th in global corruption which means “highly corrupt”.[1] The
injustice of law in Indonesia is a “public secret”. Cases of bribery and gratification are
the two judges' diseases that are most often tried in the Court of Honor by the
Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court, Of the 49 MKH trials that have been
carried out, 22 reports against judges were due to bribery and gratuities, which is
about 44.9% of the total reports. [2]

The existence of this crisis does not mean that we need to be sad and do nothing. I
called this “a challenge” for me as a law graduate on how I can participate to make a
change. Related to the crisis, i choose to make a change in the source of human
resources in the law field, and it is the law faculty of universities. By changing mindset,
delivering knowledge, upgrading skills, and training good behavior to the law student,
we can make a positive change against this crisis. I believe after this crisis, the
survivors must be successful people.
In education, we understand that we live in a challenging era in Indonesia. The
competencies of lecturers are also a problem to develop our education for better law
enforcers. On other hand, so many people want to be a lecturer but job opportunities
are limited. But, we need to treat it as a challenge and not as a problem We need to
answer it. I decide that Higher education and truthful integrity can be my solution for

them in the next generation. And, in the future, I believe Indonesia will be one of the top
countries with justice in the world.
