Considerations
In groups, have two facilitators when possible (One to lead the conversation, one to
take notes)
If possible, interview one set of stakeholders at a time (one “who” at a time)
Practice! Memorize questions and let the conversation flow
Send an invite or email ahead of time with agenda or planned questions. This allows
time for thinking and preparation before the interview happens
This is going to take time. Be prepared for at least an hour per person and don’t
rush this process. Communication is key to maintaining the project mission.
During the interview, ask if they want updates and how they want that to look (weekly
emails, shared drive access, Zoom call updates, etc.…)
How it Works:
• Interviewer
• Interviewee
• Observer
Once you have completed the Desired Outcome Framework, the Observer will share their
observations.

What to talk about?
Interviewee: Think about anything you have wanted to work on; a work project, a passion
project, something around your house or for someone in your life.
Interviewer: Use the Desired Outcomes Framework to clarify the want of the person you are
interviewing. Be sure to use best practices to include open, detailed and closed questions.
Observer: Take this time to observe the interaction and how well the communication went. Did
the interviewer clearly ask questions that the interviewee could answer? Did the interviewee
make sense with the answers they provided?
What’s wanted?

How will you know when you have it? (Need to have / Nice to Have)
