I. Write a paragraph that interprets each data set represented in tabular/graphical

forms. Aside from data interpretation, explain whether the data presentation
effectively communicate the information.

a. Case Fatal Rate of Different Continental Regions

The data presented by World Health Organization (WHO) shows the Case Fatality
Rate of Different Continental Regions. According to WHO, they were able to gather
information to monitor the cases of Covid-19 through a global surveillance system.
In the data displayed, the overall number for cases and deaths globally are
7,823,289 and 431,541 respectively. The findings also expresses that the leading
country with the most cases and number of deaths is America (3,781,538 cases
and 201,848 deaths). Coming up second is Europe with 2,416,920 cases and
188,350 deaths. Then Eastern Mediterranean with 778,200 cases and 17,077
deaths. Following this is the South-east Asia with 471,392 cases and 12,927
deaths. Next is the Western Pacific with 198,995 and 7,215 deaths. Lasty, Africa
has the least cases and deaths having a total of 175,503 and 4,111 accordingly.
Although it was not presented in the data, the case fatality rate globally is 5.52%.
Consequently, America has the highest case fatality rate with the 5.34%; while,
Africa has the least case fatality rate with 2.34%.
As we have entered several months under the influence of coronavirus disease-
19 (COVID-19), there are ongoing surge of cases in many parts of the world. The
data given was effective, but it was insufficient since the date or timeline for the
record is not visible. And since this imposes the case fatality rate of the different
continental regions, the percentage must be included as well.

b. Common Symptoms of Covid-19

According to the site, Our World in Data typically, for a case to be confirmed, a
person must have a positive result from laboratory tests. This is true regardless of
whether they have shown symptoms of COVID-19 or not. Coronavirus can be
acquired by various of people. Majority of the infected people will show mild to
moderate illness and can recover without being hospitalized. Based on the study
conducted by the World Health Organization- China Joint Mission on Coronavirus
Disease 2019 the most common symptoms of Coronavirus disease of 55,924
laboratories confirmed cased of COVID-19 reported the most common signs and
symptoms are: fever (in 87.9%); dry cough (in 67.7%); fatigue (in 38.1%);
sputum production (in 33.4%); shortness of breath (in 18.6%); myalgia or
arthralgia/ Muscle pain or Joint pain (in 14.8%); sore throat (in 13.9%);
headache (in 13.6%); chills (in 11.4%); nausea or vomiting (in 5%); nasal
congestion (in 4.8%); diarrhea (in 3.7%).
The findings shows that the most experienced symptoms by people who are
infected by the COVID-19 virus are fever with the percentage of 87.9%. Therefore,
it cannot be identified if a person has a common cold or coronavirus unless they
were tested. With the use of this data, people can identify if they are COVID-19
infected or not.

The data shows that the number of COVID-19 cases reported daily is 100-300 on

average. There is a mean of 201.2 COVID-19 cases reported daily. The data also shows

that it has a standard deviation of 68.1 cases. This shows that the number of COVID-19

cases daily does not disperse too much from the mean indicating that it maintains

consistency.
Over the course of 30 days, the number of cases did not deviate from the normal range

except on three occasions. These are the 19th day which only had 75 reported cases and

the 29th and 30th days which have 320 and 417 reported cases respectively.

The data shows the total number of COVID-19 cases as well as the total number of deaths

and recoveries recorded so far on June 15, 2020. The data shows that there are 292

more cases of deaths of male patients than female patients. The Data also shows that

there are 239 more cases of recoveries of male patients than female patients.

With the data showed, we can therefor conclude that there are more cases of male

COVID-19 patients than female patients.
