PRE-LESSON (5 MINUTES): Applying


1. Teacher greets students. 21st century learning
2. Teacher talks about popular food in Malaysia.
3. Teacher asks students to list out popular food in Malaysia.

LESSON DEVELOPMENT: Collaborative
ACTIVITY 1 (20 MINUTES) Communication
1. Teacher asks students to open Close Up textbook page 22 (Attachment 1). Critical thinking
2. Teacher reads the information in the Exam Close-Up box, Page 22 to HOTS
students.
3. Teacher explains Task D.
“Please read the questions and the three multiple-choice options first.
After this, I will play an audio of a radio interview about a restaurant
festival and then you can start answering the questions.”
4. Teacher plays Audio 2.2 twice while students write their answers
(Attachment 2).
5. Teacher asks students to discuss their answer with their partner and justify
any different answers.
6. Teacher plays Audio 2.2 once again for students to check their answers.

ACTIVITY 2 (20 MINUTES)


1. Teacher asks students to open textbook page 23 (Attachment 1).
2. Teacher pair students according to their proficiency (Strategy 5:
Differentiate by supporting individual learning preferences and needs).
3. Teacher writes the questions on the whiteboard.
4. Students verbally answer the questions in pairs.

Possible Questions:
a. Can you cook? What can you cook?
b. Who normally does the cooking at home?
c. What’s your favourite food and what food do you never eat? Why?

Possible Answers:
a. -Yes, I can. I always cook fried eggs/curry/soup.
-No, I can’t.
b. My mom/dad/sister normally cooks at home.
c. My favourite food is Mamak fried noodle because it is juicy and
coated with egg. I never try sago worm because I feel ridiculous
about it.
5. Teacher guides students to develop the answers as much as possible and
avoid giving one word answers.
6. Teacher monitors students.
7. Teacher asks each pair to take turns answering the questions orally.
8. Teacher writes any structural mistakes that students made on the board
without saying who made them.
9. Students correct the mistakes.
10. Teacher deals with any pronunciation problems that come up.

POST-LESSON (5 MINUTES) Values


1. Teacher asks students about any new things they got from today’s lesson.
2. Teacher concludes lesson.
