Removal and Installation

NOTICE:
While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of foreign material or failure of the power steering
components may result.

NOTE:
New Teflon® seals must be installed any time the power steering line fittings are disconnected.

1. Remove the power steering pump pulley. For additional information, refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley in this section.
2. Remove the pressure line/supply hose bracket nut.
• To install, tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
3. Release the clamp and disconnect the power steering pump supply hose.
4. Disconnect the pressure line-to-pump fitting.
• Remove and discard the Teflon® seal.
• To install, tighten to 75 Nm (55 lb-ft).
5. Remove the 3 bolts and the power steering pump.
• To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
6. NOTE:
Make sure that the power steering pump bolts are installed in their original positions.

NOTE:
Thoroughly clean all foreign material from the pressure line-to-pump threads before installing the fitting.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.


• Using the Teflon® Seal Installer Set, install a new Teflon® seal on the pressure line fitting.

7. Fill the power steering system. For additional information, refer to Section 211-00.
