ACTIVITY 6

DESCRIPTIVE MEASURES

WE can do it!
Compute for the Mean, standard deviation (SD) and
Qualitative Description (QD) of each of the statements. The mean
and SD will be based on the data in the separate file. The QD is
based on Table 1 on page 3. Statement 1 is done for you. Answer
the questions following the table.

Answer the following questions

1. Based on the data, what can you say about the students’ confidence in
learning Statistics? Which among the three statements (1-3) they’d agree
most?

 According to the statistics, the statement "I can get good grades in
Statistics" had the greatest agreement among the three assertions
(1-3). It indicates that they are quite confident in their ability to
succeed in that subject in fact it is evident that students are highly
confident towards learning Statistics.

2. Based on the data, what can you say about the students’ perception in
learning Statistics? Which among the three statements (4 – 6) they’d agree
most?
 According on the collected data, the assertion that Statistics is a
worthwhile and necessary subject received the greatest agreement
among the three statements (4-6). In general, students perceived on
how important the subject in which most of them agreed to the
assertion “Statistics is a worthwhile, necessary subject”.

3. Based on the data, what can you say about the students’ Attitude in learning
Statistics? Which among the three statements (7 – 9) they’d agree most?

 According to the statistics, students have a positive outlook about the use of
computers supporting the fact that students prefer to use computers when learning
the subject since it provides ease and enjoyment while learning. Students agree
the most on statement number seven, "Computer makes learning pleasant and
simple," as demonstrated by the data.
