Secondary Teachers

Rationale
Enhancement Training on Teaching Skills and Abilities Focused on Least Mastered
Competencies of the Most Essential Competencies in Mathematics for Secondary Teachers is a
program that deals with nature of mathematics, appreciation of its practical, intellectual and
aesthetic dimensions and application of mathematics tools in daily life.
This training focused on the enhancement of the Least Mastered Competencies of the Most
Essential Competencies in Mathematics for secondary level. The reason why teachers is so
important for educational excellence is simple: teachers need to be given regular training
opportunities in order to stay at the top of their game. Even the best teachers will begin to lag
behind if they don’t continue to strive for excellence.
In addition to all the traditional teaching skills, their teachers also have a lot to gain from undergoing
trainings on digital education solutions that includes methodologies such as flipped classroom and
blended learning.
Indeed, this training helps everyone enhance the ways and techniques in teaching mathematics
and formulate PISA-like question to cope up the quality learning.

Program or course description


This activity is a capability-building that orients and enhances mathematics teachers on their ways of
formulating Pisa-like questions to meet the standard learning of the learners.

Professional development priorities


This training will capacitate all mathematics teacher participants and facilitators to effectively execute and
implement this program in their respective schools for a better learning outcome among learners.

Terminal Objective
This activity aims to enhance the skills, knowledge and abilities of teachers to teach grades 7 to 11
learners that will lead to the improvement of their performance in Mathematics.

Enabling Objectives
More specifically, this activity aims to:
1. Perform the pedagogical approaches applicable in teaching the learning competencies ;
2. Equip participants to the new way of administering quiz/summative test to learners;
3. Formulate PISA-like test questions.
