SendIT: Web-based Blood Bank Management System in TUP-T

Introduction

Blood bank is a facility where blood collected from donors is kept and maintained
for eventual use in transfusions. The use of computers to execute some or all the operations carried
out in a blood bank setting is known as blood bank automation or computerization of the blood
bank. Automation of blood banks necessitates the employment of specially designed computers
and software. Customers, blood, and employees are all registered via the Blood Bank
administration system. It assists the consumer in purchasing the necessary blood based on their
requirements. Customers may make monetary transactions. Blood, employee, customer, and other
information may all be quickly accessible. This program is necessary to reduce time-consuming
manual searches, cataloging, and loaning of medications, as well as customer registration and
clearance. This system is primarily centered on the collecting, storage, and distribution of blood in
times of need.

Background of the Study

Most blood banks still use a manual approach in their operations. As a result, there
is inefficiency since information regarding donors, blood bag inventories, and blood transfusion
services is still collected on paper. Due to the likelihood of contaminated blood bags, a lack of
sufficient documentation may harm patients' health. Contamination occurred when a donor's
medical history record was insufficient, and the shelf life of the blood bags was not adequately
checked. As a result, a web-based blood bank management system may be required to handle these
concerns and problems in order to assure the safety of blood transfusions.
Statement of the Problem

The major purpose of the project is to successfully manage the blood banking
system. This project allows the users to acquire nearby blood type, it also verifies the availability
of the desired blood group, offers relevant information about the volunteer blood donors who have
registered via the suggested website

Objectives
The primary goal of this program is to digitize the blood bank's whole operation.
Large number of documents must be kept up to date. Searching should also be much quicker so
that they can quickly discover the information they need.

General Objectives:
The goal of this implemented study is to create, test, and operate a web-based blood
bank management system.

Specific Objectives:
 To guarantee that the hospital has a sufficient quantity or inventory of blood bags.
 To see if blood bags are available at any moment.
 To keep track of the information about its blood donors.
 Checks if the person has donated blood in the last three months.
 To enable accurate documentation of the donor and his or her blood donation activity.
 Support quick blood bag matching for the appropriate person.
Significance of the study

The following are some of the many benefits of a web-based blood bank administration system:
 By keeping precise records of daily donation operations, the blood bank administration
system will assist blood agencies in appropriately managing blood donations.
 The Web-based blood bank administration system will assist in providing users with
correct information regarding the value and relevance of blood donation.
 The technology will aid in encouraging users to practice blood donation.
 The system will give precise data on blood agents and blood banks for research reasons.
 The system will have a mobile responsive feature that will allow users to use their phones
to access the system.

Scope and Delimitation

The three fundamental activities of blood banks are covered in these studies: donor
registration, inventory monitoring, and blood bag or product supply surveillance. The real blood
collecting function and blood transfusion operation are not included in this research study.
