Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics – Kindergarten

I. Objectives
A. MT Common Core Standard
MA.K.CC.7 - Compare two numbers between 1 and 10 presented as written numerals.
CC.K.CC.7 – Compare Numbers
B. Learning Objectives
a. Use counting strategies to compare sets of objects
b. Participate in the class discussion actively
c. Circle the greater number in each given set of objects

II. Subject Matter: Compare by Counting Sets of 10


Materials: tape, scissors, smartboard, computer/laptop, pentel pen
Values integration: art of listening

III. Procedure/Learning Activities


A. Preparatory Activities
1. a. Let the students sing the number song.
How Many Fingers?
How many fingers on one hand? (3x)
Let’s all count together,
1,2,3,4,5 (3x)
How many fingers on two hands? (3x)
Let’s all count together.
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 (2x)
Clap, clap, clap your hands (3x)
Clap your hands with me.
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
b. Let the students count 1-10 in chorus.

2. Drill
Direction: Count and tell how many eggs. Write the number.

3. Motivation

Jena brought 6 pieces of donuts in the class while Jose brought 3 pieces of cupcakes. Who
has the greater number of foods brought to the class?
- What is asked in the problem?
- How many donuts did Jena bring to class? And how many cupcakes did Jose brought?
- Class, who has the greatest number of foods brought to school?

B. Presentation/Developmental Activities

This afternoon, we will be comparing numbers through counting strategies to compare set of
objects. And, let’s have a group activity.

Activity: Circle Me I Am A Greater Number


Remember, in each group, you need to help each other in answering the given set. And each
member of your group will report your output infront. If you are done answering, post your
output infront.
Let us compare the numbers by counting the object in each set.
Direction: Count how many in each set. Write the number of objects in each set. Compare the
numbers and color yellow the greater number.

C. Generalization
Class, based on the activity, when can we say that it is a greater number?
Yes, in comparing two numbers, the number that has a bigger digit, is the greater number.

IV. Evaluation
Direction: Count how many in each set. Write the objects in each set. Compare the numbers. Circle
the greater number.
(Let the students answer the activity on Go Math textbook page 154)

V. Assignment/Agreement
Practice counting 1-20 tonight for an oral recitation tomorrow on counting 1-20.
