Message from the Director
The Vision of NISM is to impart in-depth knowledge on the financial
sector, focusing on the securities markets, to a broad spectrum of
participants- both academic and professional- and to build a robust
pool of skilled manpower for the Market Infrastructure Institutions,
market intermediaries, financial service providers, and other entities
in the financial/securities markets. Being an educational initiative of
the market regulator SEBI, NISM is uniquely positioned to assimilate and
disseminate knowledge on financial markets and related subjects.

NISM, through its academic courses, corporate training

programmes, certifications, workshops and industry interactions,
has been redefining financial education and awareness over the last
15 years. It has created a bouquet of tailor-made academic
programmes to develop new age professionals to cater to the expanding needs and requirements of the markets.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), specialized in Securities Markets (SM), is the flagship programme of NISM.
This programme has already equipped four batches of bright young people for leadership positions in the financial-corporate
sectors since 2017. This 2 year AICTE approved academic programme is rigorous, built on strong theoretical foundation and
backed by real-world examples and practical application. Students also get to interact and learn from business/ financial
sector leaders. A unique facility being provided by NISM to its students is a trading lab with live data from the exchanges.

This programme is designed to provide a mix of conceptual understanding and exposure to theory, practices and policies,
through the use of contemporary learner-centric pedagogies. The institute with its team of dedicated academic and
industry experts impart knowledge based on in-depth research, practice and constant interaction with the policymakers
and the industry at the senior levels.

In order to further sharpen the minds of our students and broaden their vision, NISM has initiated an ongoing leadership
lecture series wherein eminent experts [Regulatory leaders/Judges/Professionals/Academicians and CEOs are invited to
address the students and faculty on relevant contemporary issues. Mr. Rabi Sankar, Deputy Governor, RBI; Mr. Ajit
Balakrishnan, Chairman, Rediff; Justice BN Srikrishna, Former judge of Supreme Court; Justice/s Tarun Agarwala and
Madan Joshi, Presiding Officer and Judicial Member of the Securities Appellate Tribunal(SAT); and Prof. Richard Whish,
Emeritus Professor of law, Kings College, London delivered such lectures during November-December 2021. Many more
lectures are in the pipeline.

We have also revised the syllabus/content of the programme to include frontier areas such as the role of Fintech and ESG.
We will also offer frontier topics/programmes as additional voluntary electives with extra credits. Subject to progress in the
situation relating to the pandemic, we are also exploring possibilities of tying up short term attachments with universities of
repute abroad to provide international exposure as well to the PGDM students.

Located in an invigorating ambience at Patalganga, a short distance from Mumbai, NISM epitomizes a premier, modern age
institute spread over a 70 acre campus. It has all modern facilities for learning: well-furnished hostels, extra-curricular
activities, gym, open amphitheatre and sports, including a cricket ground.

I assure you that the PGDM(SM) Programme as well as life in the NISM campus will be rewarding and enriching. I take this
opportunity to welcome you to NISM.
