CURRICULUM

DEVELOPMENT
& INSTRUCTIONAL
SUPERVISION
PREFACE
Curriculum Development is one of the major components in the whole instructional process.
Teachers take part in the process : both designers, developers, implementers, and evaluators of the
curriculum. Curriculum is the ultimate guide on how instruction and the whole gamut of the
teaching-learning process is carried out in each grade or year level and for each subject or course to be
taught in the classroom.

The presentation of the course includes the essential parts of curriculum development which are
arranged in modules: (Module1) essential concepts, nature and purpose, types, foundations, and
approaches; (Module 2) curriculum design models (the K to 12 for basic education, the OBE for higher
education, and the CBC of TESDA to include also the dimensions and principles; (Module 3)
curriculum implementation (Module 4) assessment/evaluation of the curriculum.

Understanding this course becomes an enabling tool for the prospective and practicing teacher to
become successful in his/her future professional practice.
