This Project is estimated to take place on June 11, 2022. The day is Saturday so all
can participate and join in the initiative.

VI. RATIONALE AND PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

Jamul-awon is a barangay in the municipality of Panay, in the province of Capiz.

Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 801. This represented 1.64% of
the total population of Panay. The barangay is situated at approximately 11.5340,
122.8640, in the island of Panay. The Municipality of Panay is composed of 42
barangays. These barangays are mainly situated in coastal areas, thus making them
vulnerable to tidal waves and rapid rising of sea level. On the other hand, source of
income is mainly from the sea by the means of catching fish and cultivating ponds for
sea products.
Therefore, there is a need to protect the sea and its neighboring areas. The
proponent believes that planting trees is essential in maintaining the balance of ecosystem
and the livelihood of the community situated in the coastal barangay, particularly,
Barangay Jamul-Awon.
The purpose of this project is to help the community and to provide safety and
security in their lives. Especially that Climate Change is contributing to the rapid rising
of sea level and intensifying typhoons entering in the Philippine’s area of responsibility.
Furthermore, ensuring sustainability is needed so community will survive and be
productive which later then helps the people be beneficial and successful.

VII. PROJECT GOALS

 To reduce the adverse effects of Climate Change; and
 To help lessen the air pollution.
VIII. SPECIFIC GOALS
 1. To maintain the cleanliness of the air; and
2. To help protect the community in the coastal areas from Natural Disasters
such as tidal waves, erosion and typhoon.

IX. PROJECT COMPONENTS

a. Extension Support, Education and Training
1. Conduct a short briefing or seminar about the importance of planting trees
in the community.
2. The Designated Barangay Tanod/Offical will patrol the area to make sure
the tree continues to grow.

X. ANTICIPATED IMPACT
a. Conduct of Briefing/ Awareness on the importance of Tree Planting in in the
community especially in coastal areas barangay.
b. Reduction of the negative impact of natural disasters worsens by Climate Change.

XI. METHODS TO BE USED

1. The proponent will seek the help of the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources Office through writing letter address to the Office of The
Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer for the 100 pcs. Of
tree seedlings to be used in the said activity.

2. The proponent then presents this proposal to the Barangay Council of

Barangay Jamul-awon with the guidance of the Municipal Environmental and
Natural Resources Officer (MENRO).

3. Through the Barangay Council, the community will be informed of the said
activity and ask for their support for the said activity.
 4. The proponent together with the Barangay Council and the Community of
Barangay Jamul-awon will conduct a short briefing on the importance of this
activity.
