Things You Should Know
Things You Should Know
-INPUT: it contains information related to that person’s needs. It can also contain
inadequate information that doesn’t apply to those needs. The input can be of
different types: infographic, photo, text, audio, ...
1. Before you start writing, underline the most important information from the
situation given, so that you know what to choose from the input.
2. Apart from selecting the relevant information and transmitting it in the right
way, make sure you justify why you chose it.
3. Don’t copy the exact words from the text. Paraphrase and use synonyms.
4. Don’t give your opinion unless they ask you. Don’t explain personal
anecdotes, stick to the text and transmit it. Remember you’re simply a
mediator.
5. Use the right register. If you’re writing to a friend, don’t use formal
connectors or expressions, use informal language.
6. Try to respect the word limit. Go straight to the point, stick to the task,
without writing long introductions. Mediation is not a writing task.
