Rationale:
Electricity has been the primary need of the human race since the beginning of its discovery
and development. But our dependence never ceases, and the effort of sustain it has become
a global technology war over the years. As a consequence, global warming apperas imminent
and our move to renewable energy resources in order to protect the future. The utilization of
these commodities was not stable, and the invention of energy storages became the start of
the technological race. Moreoften, the current energy storages were mainly made up of
hazardous chemicals, which eventually turned-out to be the environmental issue for its
production and disposal. It is also susceptible to heat and detoriation. Such problems can be
helped by the use of thermal induced pressure in CAES usiing Tesla Turbine will aid these
concerns.
Objectives:
The major objective of this undertaking is to design and develop a Thermal Induced Pressure
Compressed Air Energy Strage using Tesla turbine as the prime mover. Specifically, it aims to
ascertain the following objectives:

1. Design a thermal-induced pressure CAES with Tesla turbine electric generator

that is suitable for the needs of the project.

2. Develop an appropriate hybrid solar photovotaic-thermal collector and medium-

to- high-pressure heat exchanger tank needed for the operation of the project.

3. Design a suitable controls and instrumentation.

4. To test and evaluate the system in terms of the following criteria:

4.1 Operational Features;

4.2 Cost;

4.3 Usability; and

4.4 Maintainability.

The study seeks to answer the need for a thermal-assisted compressed air energy storage
system and the development of the Tesla turbine generator for more reliable and clean
energy of the future.
Research method:
The study will utilize the Hardware Configuration Item (HWCI) Development Life Cycle and
Failure Mode and Element Analysis (FMEA) to design and develop the proposed project.
HWCI is comprised of the following phases, namely; (1) planning and data gathering, (2)
hardware requirement analysis, (3) design phase, (4) fabrication and (5) qualification and
test phase
Expected Output of Research Project:
The expected output of this research project is the complete and functional thermal induced
pressure CAES with Tesla turbine generator
