The Root Causes of Jaw Joint Painwith

Michael Mew, BDS, MSc Orth

What you'll learn from this expert talk:
 Link between a lack of space in the mouth and jaw pain
 Why the position of your tongue is so important
 Steps for creating more space in your mouth

Michael Mew, BDS, MSc Orth

Dr. Mike Mew is the lead clinician at the London School of Facial Orthotropics. He lectures and
teaches extensively around the world. His personal interest is in the growth and development of
the face and understanding the factors that influence it.
It is openly admitted within the profession that there is no real understanding of the causes of
crooked teeth, sleep apnea, snoring or jaw joint problems (TMD), which have seen a dramatic
increase over the last century. He feels that they are all symptoms of a single underlying problem
and has put forward the concept of “craniofacial dystrophy” to explain the underlying
pathological process. He feels that simple public health measures for young children could
minimize or eliminate these problems. He is passionate about raising debate on these issues and
working towards a cure for malocclusion, OAS, TMD and even craniofacial dystrophy.
Having engaged with social media, Dr. Mew’s ideas have gone viral, with literally millions of
people “Mewing” around the world. It is his aim to use this publicity to find like-minded people
within dentistry and other specialties to push for open debate and find effective solutions.

it. He then applied what he learned about diet and lifestyle management in his practice and found
that his patients recovered faster and with less side effects. He has now treated thousands of
patients with chronic illness using his novel approach, and many have gone one to live healthy,
symptom-free lives.

Dr. Ingels has been featured on WebMD, MindBodyGreen, BeWell, ThriveGlobal, Motherly,
Voyage LA and Dr. Ron Hoffman’s Intelligent Medicine podcast, and is the author of The Lyme
