Natural Objects Seen in the Sky

During Nighttime
Introductory Message
This Self-Learning Module (SLM) is prepared so that
you, our dear learners, can continue your studies and
learn while at home. Activities, questions, directions,
exercises, and discussions are carefully stated for you to
understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part
shall guide you step-by-step as you discover and
understand the lesson prepared for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior
knowledge on lessons in each SLM. This will tell you if you
need to proceed on completing this module or if you need
to ask your facilitator or your teacher’s assistance for
better understanding of the lesson. At the end of each
module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check
your learning. Answer keys are provided for each activity
and test. We trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to
the Teacher are also provided to our facilitators and
parents for strategies and reminders on how they can best
help you on your home-based learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put
unnecessary marks on any part of this SLM. Use a
separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises and
tests. And read the instructions carefully before
performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any
difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator.
Thank you.

1
Try to sing this song about the rainbow to the tune of the
ABC song.
Red and orange, green and blue
Yellow, violet, and indigo
Rainbow colors I can draw
Seven colors in a bow
Beautiful rainbow I can see
God made this for you and me

In the box below, draw, label and color the things you see
in the day sky. Include what you see after the rain.

What’s In

The day sky, or the sky during the day, looks different
from the night sky, or the sky at nighttime. You can see
things in the sky in daytime that you do not see it at night.
Have you tried looking at the sky at night?
What natural objects do you see in the sky at
nighttime?

2
Imagine that you are looking at the sky at night.
What natural things do you see in it?

What’s New

Recite the poem:

http://www.clker.com/clipart-night-sky.html

Twinkle, twinkle little stars brighten the clear sky afar

Along with the moon seemingly
changing the shape
each time I look at it at night.
What’s up there in the sky besides
the moon and stars
Tell me, my dear, what other things do
you see in the night sky?

What natural things do you see in the sky at nighttime?

What is It

Let’s Read and Learn:

At night, you will no longer see the sun. You cannot
also see the clouds clearly. Rainbows also do not show in
the night sky.
The moon is a big round
and bright object in the night sky.It
is made up of fine dust and rocks.
It has no light of its own. It gets its
light from the sun. The light
reflected by the moon is called
moonlight. The moon is round in
shape. Yet sometimes you will see
it in different shapes.

Stars are balls of gases in outer space. You see them as

very tiny and bright objects that twinkle in the night sky.
Stars look very small because they are very far from the
earth. The nearest star to Earth is the sun. Stars are also seen
against the darkness of the night sky. Stars, like the sun,
shine with their own light. But since the sunlight is more
powerful during daytime, the
stars cannot be seen in the sky.
Light shown by stars is called
starlight. Stars are of different
colors. They can be red, orange,
yellow, white or blue. Blue stars
are hottest. Red stars are the
