ACTIVITY – 3 EXTERIOR ANGLE PROPERTY OF A TRIANGLE
Objective- To verify the exterior angle property of a triangle
Prerequisite knowledge- The exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles Materials required- Geometry box, colour papers, scissors, glue Procedure • Arrange two colour papers one above the other and sketch the outline of a triangle with one side extended, so that you get an exterior angle of the triangle • Along the outline cut the triangles • Name both the triangles as ABC (Side BC extended to the point D) • Highlight the exterior angle and the corresponding opposite interior angles of the first triangle by shading them and paste in your record book • Taking a convenient radius cut arcs at the vertices .A and B of the second triangle with the same radius and repeat the same for the exterior angle at C • Cut along the arcs those are constructed and get the angles a and b and the exterior angle at c separately • Paste the angles adjacent to the triangle which is already pasted in such a way that you get the exterior angle equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles Observation: ∠ACD = ∠A + ∠B CONCLUSION: THE EXTERIOR ANGLE OF A TRIANGLE IS EQUAL TO THE SUM OF THE OPPOSITE INTERIOR ANGLE ACTIVITY -4 ANGLE SUM PROPERTY OF QUADRILATERAL
