not only that, but hes created from a DF ability, and up until now water always turned them
to normal, so him going underwater without turning into a normal fire without a soul in it
is a plot hole the anime added

I think they were in a bad spot with that scene because in the manga Prometheus catches
BM before she touches the water (we don't see him catching her but she's not wet after he
does) meaning Kaido attacking Zoro and Prometheus going to BM took only a few seconds.
The manga can afford to make it so only a couple of seconds passed in 4 pages but the
anime can't do that as that's like one third of the material they have to cover in the whole
episode.
That means they had to choose between either 1) having BM falling for the first 8 minutes
of the episode (or whatever it was) without ever making it to the water or 2) have her fall
into the water and then Prometheus goes in to get her. They chose the second option
which is stupid because water is an established weakness for Prometheus (I mean, it's a
ball of fire) but it was going to be goofy either way.

It’s not about being the product of a DF. He was established as being weak to water during
the WCI escape. Big Mom wasn’t supposed to actually hit the water in the manga.

Exactly them making her drop into the water period was unnecessary & resulted in some
dumb ass arguments cause he or she was not supposed to make it to the water he catches
her right before. For a reason, lol.

This is something that confuses a lot of people. Unlike Moria's, Big Mom's powers only act
when she's moving souls (or soul parts) from place A to place B. Her powers aren't
permanently active keeping them in place. Otherwise every homie would have been reverted
when she got knocked out at the entrance of Wano. Therefore, a homie going underwater
shouldn't revert, as it's not an active DF power.
The fact a mass of fire can get underwater is more sus, regardles of devil fruit powers.
Pretty sure in the manga neither of them was seen underwater.

1. Prometheus himself is not a Devil Fruit and Devil Fruit created items are not
affected by water. Napoleon still functions after Big Mom's dip in the ocean, the
Big Mama Chanter is able to sail, and the Candy Slug was able to travel just fine
during the chase back in WCI.
2. Devil Fruit abilities do not stop working underwater regardless, it only weakens
the user to the point where they can't move and they can't activate them of their
own accord. Luffy still stretches underwater (as seen during the Arlong Park
fight). Brook won't drop dead, but he can't use any of his soul powers (the
passive ability remains, but the active ones are inaccessible). So, Big Mom can't
make new Homies while submerged, but the old ones will still keep kicking.
Sorry if this comes off as curt but a surprising amount of people have this misconception
that water shuts off DF abilities and destroys their products.
Now, how the hell a being made of pure fire operated underwater? I got no fucking clue.

While Prometheus can ignore Armament Haki, he IS actually weak to water, given that he’s
a living fireball (Ch. 875). The anime made the mistake of having Big Mom actually sink
underwater, when Prometheus was supposed to catch her on the way down.

Okay well u got me there but yeah my initial reaction was the fire aspect of it then the DF
part came to mind after thinkin about Big Mom being submerged I mean she was pretty
deep down
