EDUCATION: “The Right to Suffrage”

NARRATIVE REPORT
05 SHAWWAL 1443 – 06 MAY 2022

On 5th day of May 2022, the Bangsamoro Human Rights

Commission-SGA, North Cotabato and Cotabato City Office,
conducted an activity entitled: PARTICIPATORY ACTION
RESEARCH AND HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION: “The Right to
Suffrage”, held at 8th Avenue, Kabacan North Cotabato. There
were 60 participants coming from the different organizations like
North Cotabato Composite Team, Civil Society’s Organization
(NCCT-CSOs), Tiyakap Kalilintad, Non-Violence Peace Force, and
CCCH-AHJAG MILF. Special Investigator III Johaer D. Adulah
served as the Master of Ceremony and at the same time lead
facilitator. The activity formally started at 9am with an invocation
led by Mr. Tuansi B. Mamantar followed by the National Anthem
and Bangsamoro Hymn. The OIC Head of Special Geographic
Area Abdillah B. Alik was tasked to give the opening remark to
formally start the activity. He said that this activity is concerning
the right to suffrage and everyone should be aware of their rights
so that violations and/or abuses will be reduced.

The rationale of the activity was presented by Hamlee Nur I.

Lumambas. In his presentation, he explained the concept of the
activity. Atty. Badrodin A. Mangindra delivered his lecture on the
right to suffrage. He explained the rights of everyone related to
human rights violations before, during, and after the election.
Also, he explained and enunciated the dos and don'ts’ inside the
polling place and precinct during election period. After the
lecture, an open forum was allotted to the participants to ask
questions and voice out concerns in relation to election
violations. A workshop was conducted and facilitated by Special
Investigator Aldahas A. Kanakan to solicit opinions through

identification of issues and concerns, set recommendation and

action taken. After collecting their ideas, all participants received
their tokens, awarding of certificate of participation, then photo-
Ops. The last part of the activity is the closing program given by
the President of Tiyakap kalilintad Sir Abdulnasser B. Benasing.
In his speech, he highlighted that violation during elections will
be reduced if everyone will control and discipline himself/herself
from the beat of anger, and it could only be done by purifying our
hearts. Finally, the program finished at around 3:30 in the
afternoon.
