Content

Print uppercase and lowercase letters of the alphabet

independently.

In this activity, my students are going to use ABCya! Paint-Digital Painting Skills
to create a work, first creating upper- and lower-case letters in manuscript, and
Pedagogy Planning

then creating a picture matching the letter sound securing letter sound
recognition, as well.
Activity
1. At morning circlet time, discuss upper and lowercase
letters. Track the Alphabet chart and sing the
Alphabet.
2. Go through each letter of the Alphabet and have the
students “write” each letter (in both upper and lower
case) in the air.
3. Following this activity, have students say a word that
begins with each letter going around the circle and
taking turns.
4. Following this activity, dismiss the students to their
desks and allow them to take out their chrome
books. Navigate to the ABCya! Paint-Digital Painting
Skills.
5. Tell the students that we are now going to explore
and become creative using technology and bring to
life what we just did at circle time with our Alphabet!
We can use a new way to bring the Alphabet in
fruition. This will engage students and spark interest,
as well as challenge what we already know. The
students should be extremely ambitious with this
activity and they should be eager to secure letter
form, since it is one of the first times that we have
attempted this.
6. Go through each letter of the Alphabet, prompting
the letters verbally- beginning with Aa.
7. If some of the students get “stuck”, wait a few
minutes, and then write the letter on the
whiteboard.
8. After the letter is “written”, challenge the students to
“draw” a picture matching the given letter’s
beginning sound.
9. Go through each letter doing this given activity.
