ACTIVITY 1. UNDERSTANDING DISASTER


1. In two to three sentences, describe the given images.
Disaster may have human causes even though they are mostly triggered by nature.
2. List down the disasters that you can identify from the images.
A kid plays with his ball and stick in front of the largest catholic church in Bohol Island were
destroyed when 7.2 magnitude hits. The other picture is the battle for Marawi were former
Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. Marawi City. And lastly is the Thank You signs it isplaced
after aid arrives to help the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan.

3. How will you define disaster based on the given images?


The disasters based on the images is a sudden, catastrophic occurrence that surely disrupts a
community’s a society’s functioning or environment losses that are greater disaster.

ACTIVITY 2. AM I READY?
Directions: Answer the given question.
Do you think you are relatively well prepared when a disaster might affect your community
either natural or man-made as well as to its effects? List down five (5) important things that you
need to prepare in order to lessen the possible danger that you and your family might encounter
when disaster strikes. Explain your answer briefly.

4. Extra batteries/Charger/Powerbank
5. Sanitary Supplies (Tissue, Alcohol, Soap)
ACTIVITY 3. THE SEARCH IS OVER

disaster according to the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center. You should find nine (9) key
terms.

Once your word hunt is complete, use the key terms to define Disaster. Your definition should be
a restatement/paraphrase of the definition by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center.

\Disaster is defined as a "sudden or great misfortune" or simply "any unfortunate occurrence."


More precisely, a disaster is an incident whose timing is unexpected and whose consequences are
seriously destructive to the life of the community.
Disaster is a devastation phenomenon that causes a widespread death and destruction to the
community including its property. This is a strong word that suggests serious damage has
occurred, leaving almost nothing left.
Disaster is a calamitous event that seriously disrupts the functioning of a community or society
and causes human, material, and economic or environmental losses that exceed the community's
or society's ability to cope using its own resources.
Disaster is a terrifying damage that occurs over a short or long period of time that causes
property destruction, loss of livelihoods and services, social and economic disruption, or
environmental detriment.
Disaster is the loss of property and possessions, when such phenomenon strikes, it is often swift
and dramatic, creating an immediate crisis for victims. Disaster is not the loss of properties alone
but the loss of a loved ones, leaving the victims of the disaster are most times left with scars,
wounds and tears.
Disaster is an awful property that bring havoc and chaos to the course of life or community, such
calamity brings distress to humans living in such affected community.
Disaster is a destructive occurrence that can lead to devastating results for the humans and its
property, wealth, and the over-all community.
Disaster is a life-threating situation where you face the danger of death or physical injury. You
may also lose your home, possessions, and community. Such stressors place you at risk for
emotional and physical health problems.
Disaster is cataclysmic event that causes extraordinary mischief, injury, annihilation, and damage
to life and property", it brings imbalance to the normal course of life, causing both physical and
emotional suffering from the losses
