REFLECTIVE PRACTICE

INTRODUCTION

Teaching is a process of continuous self-appraisal. Reflective practice in teaching is therefore a

way of examining your day-to-day teaching experiences with an open mind (Students Internship
Handbook). It is also an opportunity to review progress of work. It helps one to identify areas of
practice which are in need of further development and those areas of practice which may have
already been developed.

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT

During the course of my internship program at Agogoso D/A Junior High School, I did reflect on
almost all lessons I taught. During this reflection period, I placed myself at the center of the
activity and critically evaluated my set objectives, strategies, actions and results. One of the
lessons I delivered and have chosen to reflect on was lesson number 5: Types of Basic Input and
Output Devices, which was taught on February 17, 2022.

Instructional Objectives

By the end of the lesson the student will be able to:

1.0 Identify a mouse and state its uses.

1.1 state the uses and application of a joystick

1.2 Identify a light pen as an input device and its uses

1.3 Identify scanner, webcam, microphone as input devices and their uses.

RELEVANT PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE

Students have been taught Input Devices and some examples.

Advance Preparation

Ahead of the lesson, I made sure I had arranged for my teaching and learning materials.

Knowing the kind of students I have and the matured questions they ask in class, I prepared
thoroughly on the content to be able to answer questions that will be asked by students in the
class. I also made sure my lesson notes are prepared up-to-date.

LESSON INTRODUCTION
The lesson was introduced by asking (brainstorming) students on what input devices are, state
some examples as taught in the previous lesson. Then I linked the responses of the students to the
day’s topic.
I then wrote the topic on the board and then mentioned the objectives of the lesson to students.
