The DSS in charge of Opukushi area by name Tobin Thomas in his opening remarks
stated that the area was on BLACK due to some security challenges but presently on
RED, though there hasn’t been any incident so far but we shouldn’t let our guards

interface with the military for any reason and if there is need for that we should call
his attention to address the situation.
3 HIGHLIGHTS:
The key highlights noted by the DSS were

 Always inform the security personnel if you are moving when you are done
with your job
 Personnel should ensure that there is no close contact with the military
when mooring the boat so as to endanger civilians life in event of attack
 In event of out of sight ensure you communicate with the DSS to inform the
military so as to have adequate cover
 Ensure that the work crew use leas and chase as stated in the security plan
anything short of that should be escalated to th DSS
 Personnel should not go to site without escort to avoid kidnap, robbery.
 In event of host community invasion or stop work, personnel’s were advised
to stop and leave the work and call the attention of the CRO and DSS
 Personnel were advised to be vigilant and alert.
 Be AWARE of your surroundings at all times and trust your INSTINCTS.
 Stay in well lit, populated pathways. Avoid shortcuts. Travel in groups.
There's always safety in numbers.
 Walk with your head upright. Make eye contact. Thieves often target
victims who are not paying attention to their surroundings or who are
looking down.

enough gas to get where you're going and back.
