SAP SuccessFactors People Analytics is the overall solution for all reporting, workforce analytics, and workforce
planning in SAP SuccessFactors.
Stories in People Analytics consolidates all legacy SAP SuccessFactors transactional reporting tools into a single
tool for reporting, insights, dashboards, etc. and enable customers to perform cross-suite reporting based on live
transactional data across the SAP SuccessFactors HXM suite. Stories in People Analytics is available as part of the
SAP SuccessFactors platform at no additional cost to the customer, leveraging SAP Analytics Cloud technology for
visualizations.
Workforce Analytics creates a single version of the truth with standard definitions of workforce metrics in the SAP
SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics solution, enabling managers and leaders to make better decisions based on a
common understanding of the data.
Workforce Planning generates meaningful insight to reduce critical resource gaps. The SAP SuccessFactors
Workforce Planning solution provides intelligence on the future impact of workforce decisions, reduces risk, and
helps create the workforce you need to drive results.
The reporting solutions in People Analytics offer both simple lists, and more advanced cross-tabs/pivots, which can
be combined with charting and formatting into multi-page reports for distribution within the company. The report
output formats include PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You can manage the access to build and run reports, by
granting the permissions only to authorized users.
Report templates are available for all core areas of the SAP SuccessFactors suite, including Performance, Goals,
Succession, Recruiting, and Employee Central. Templates are being continually scoped and added.
The reporting capabilities in SAP SuccessFactors also allows users to build interactive dashboards and tiles, which
enable managers to view a summary of information for their teams.
● Role-based permission - to manage access. For example, a manager can only access data within those
dashboards for their area of responsibility/employees/team.
● Filters - to filter out different sets of information you require in a report.
● Drill down - into a list view to get more detail about what is included in the report.
● Act - to schedule/send out action reports when necessary.
There are application analytics available within the SAP SuccessFactors products, and some examples are also
included in this guide.
Note
This guide is continually being updated and therefore must be used as a guide and isn’t a contractually binding
document.

Stories in People Analytics offers reporting, insights, dashboards, and so on, and enables you to perform cross-
suite reporting based on live transactional data across the SAP SuccessFactors HXM suite.
Story Reports
The Story type of report in Report Center is part of the People Analytics solution, and it's based on the integration of
SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite with SAP Analytics Cloud. After you create a story, you can add and edit pages,
sections, and elements. You can share your story with others to enable them to use the report you've created. It is a
presentation-style report that uses charts, visualizations, text, images, and pictograms to describe data. A story
mainly involves building a query, and using the query to create the report.
● Perform suite-wide analysis by including data from multiple modules in one story. For example, Recruiting and
Onboarding; Employee Central, Recruiting, and other modules; and so on.
● Leverage improved schema structures that allow the right data elements to be found quickly and easily,
including important fields being automatically suggested.
● Search across all schemas.
● Create single domain and cross domain reports using product schemas that are not supported by other
reporting tools in SAP SuccessFactors:

Related Information
Dashboards consist of tiles. Each tile contains a chart and has drill-to-detail. Tiles can be combined into full screen
dashboards with many charts on the page that can be shared with different roles. Tiles can also be placed on the
homepage or in the SAP SuccessFactors iPad application.
The homepage tiles and the dashboards are built on the Tiles and Dashboard framework.
There is a catalogue of standard tiles which are built for a standard SAP SuccessFactors configuration. Additional
tiles get added to the catalogue with every new release. You can build your own tiles. All tiles – both custom built
and standard tiles – can be combined into dashboards and placed on homepage and iPad.
Solution includes a special homepage tile with integration to Workforce Analytics, making it possible to show the
advanced metrics and dimensions on the homepage.
This document goes through the dashboard tiles available in the SuccessStore.
All future standard content for the dashboard framework will be tiles. The main reason is that it is the most flexible
mechanism for sharing standard content because customers can adopt the tiles they like and mix and match the
tiles into dashboards as they please.
● Dashboard Tiles are the future of dashboards. They are fast, flexible, and have intelligent logic for how it is
visualized depending on the amount of data. Each tile is independent, so administrators can mix and match
tiles into the dashboards they need. There is also a tool for administrators to build their own simple tiles.
Partners or Professional Services can build more advanced custom tiles at additional cost, but at a much lower
price than standard dashboards (because they are more simple now that each tile is a separate entity).
● Standard Dashboards are slower than tiles, hardcoded and have complex logic that may not always work for all
customers. When installing a standard dashboard you cannot edit or hide any of the charts, so you have to
accept all charts as is. If one of the charts in the dashboard does not work, users will see a dashboard with a
broken chart inside which is not ideal. Customized dashboards can be created via costly engagements with
partners or professional services.
We strongly recommend that you switch to using tile-based dashboards only and that you replace the standard
dashboards you currently might have in your instance.

This tile is based on data from the performance form. It counts the number of performance forms by overall
objective rating label (the overall rating for the objective section in the form). The x-axis displays labels defined in
the rating scale used to give the ratings.
● Forms must have an overall objective rating label to be shown in the chart. If there is no objective summary
section in the form it will not have the data needed for the chart.
● The rating must have a rating scale ID to appear in the chart.
● If the labels in the rating scale have been changed since the form was saved, the form will not appear in the

● The rating scale must have a value in the user’s language.
● Unrated forms will not appear.

for each goal in the form.
● Performance Management
This topic provides a more detailed description of the data requirements for the rating distribution tiles.
Data Requirements
Rating distribution tiles all use the rating description (the rating label – not the number) and count forms with each
rating.
Note
If a form does not have a rating description, it will not appear in the chart.
Note
If there are no rating scale ID on a rating it will not be shown in the chart.
We will only display forms with values that map to one of the labels in the rating scale.
Note
Ratings such as unrated and too new to rate will not be displayed as they are not items on the rating scale.
These tiles only work if the rating scale has values in the user’s language. Please verify in the rating scales admin
tool that you have labels in all enabled languages. You can choose to copy the English label into the local language,
but you cannot leave it blank.
We recommend not to report across multiple rating scales. If a user combines the several scales, then values from
all the scales will appear one scale at a time. See example below where the green section (left side) is the first rating
scale and the red section (right side) is the second rating scale. Both scales are shown in the same chart.
