M3A5 - Assessment 5 THOUGHT PAPER

(Module 3) Word count: 1157

Problem:
The Philippines were governed by Spain 123 years ago. When Ferdinand Magellan arrived in the Samar Islands in 1521, the colonial
era officially began. Spanish colonialism lasted for 300 years until the KKK Revolution started in 1898. The invasion, corruption, and
exploitation of Spanish oppression caused the nation to suffer. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Reolanda was born in Calamba Laguna
on June 19, 1861, and was a smart man. When he was an adult, he started using writing to advocate for his people. His writings opened the
eyes of Filipinos, and he criticized the Spanish authorities and the Iniquitous Social Structure in his book, which resulted in a ban on his
writing. The Noli Me Tangere was first printed in Spain in 1887.

Noli Me Tangere is written in ancient Spanish text, making it difficult to read in today's society. The novel was translated by Benedict
Richard O'Gorman Anderson and John Schumacher, two expert historians. Although it is obvious that they had no idea why they were given
the task of translating the novel, there are errors in their translation. This can discredit Jose Rizal's writings.
As a result, I have gathered analysis techniques to discover the truth and avoid historical errors. A document, object, or artifact must
be original to be considered a primary source if it offers a first-person account of a historical event, person, thing, or work of art. Sources are
regularly used as details at modern crime scenes to collect and convey bits of evidence to the court of justice. Examples of primary sources
include pictures, memoirs, diaries, and genuine artifacts associated with the subject.

To comprehend the true path of an event, one must look beyond the winners' and victorious tales. Additionally, carefully consider the
information from the perspectives of the other narrators. Being objective will stop biased viewpoints from learning the truth.

Let's now discuss the issue or issues related to historical primary sources. Eyewitness reports are one type of source that may be
too near to the subject and hence lack the necessary critical distance. For instance, analyzing and finishing artifacts like interviews, surveys,
diaries, and experiments takes time. Finally, your major research in some fields of study might not be taken seriously unless it has already
been recognized by other groups or historians. To incorporate a historical approach, some sources are modified. Taking such reality away
from its source. Historians have developed a framework to assess the rigid methodology of primary sources throughout the experience. only
by taking a glance at the used source. Examine two typical subcategories of trust-building. Before evaluating any source, consider the
evidence that supports it. After that, immediately evaluate the quality. Make sure the source you found aligns with the issue and the subject.
Try to track down the person who made that record if not. To determine whether other sources, such as secondary and tertiary sources, fall
under the primary category, they should be examined. Investigate whether someone changed the information if the informant is in a position
to provide reliable information or if the informant took part in the primary event. Look into whether someone changed the information in the
records whether the informant is in a position to provide correct information or if the informant took part in the primary event. There should
be clear inconsistencies in the sources used to support the information if it is all related. These are the kinds of markings to search for.
Solutions:
For instance, the history of the Filipino people from ancient times to the present is told through the Philippine flag, which is a primary
source. It describes the struggles, hardships, labor, bravery, and heroism of Filipinos in the struggle for our rights and freedom. Since the
entire colonial period of our history is recognized by the globe, so is our flag. that the countries who now help us create our own identity once
colonized us. The flag serves as our main source of identification as an independent, sovereign country that is willing to protect its borders
at all times.
When considering all of the sources, we must keep in mind that having phony sources leads to faulty data, which leads to the
inaccurate historical record. After all, every source contains some bias. All previous evidence may be tainted by a single untruth. Analyze
with skepticism, then verify and double-check your conclusions to make sure they are uncontested. We are closer to perfection because of
complexity.

Including more analytical techniques to support such claims

The readings of all three papers reveal many opposing viewpoints. One must understand the differences between the various forms
of government, even though most of it has run afoul of reality. An organized government of a state that enjoys the broad acceptance and
respect of the populace is referred to as a de jure government. It also describes a situation where people are following the law. A de facto
government, on the other hand, is a form of government that holds actual possession of authority and power without a formal title or approval
from the government. De jure and de facto governments have both been in use in the Philippines for the past 100 years.

Nationalism and patriotism

Dr. Jose Rizal, our nation's national hero and an erudite one at that, is venerated for having stood up to the Spaniards for the sake of the
Philippines. Freedom, democracy, and the colonial crisis were all resolved after his death. Because of the unease surrounding the facts
that are currently in use, the importance of earlier events, or the creation of traditions, history is a very potent subject to be dealt with. Dr.
Jose Rizal also inspired us to have a feeling of national awareness and a mentality that prioritizes serving our country above all else. Dr.
Jose Rizal taught us to describe our love and devotion for our nation, encompassing its ethnic, cultural, political, and historical
characteristics. He also encouraged and influenced us to uphold the law. All for the benefit of our nation.

While claiming that patriotism is founded on love for the people and their values and beliefs, nationalism emphasizes the unity of our
country, including its cultural past. Our hero's fervent dedication to his nation is the only way to properly love it, especially in light of the
passion with which he wrote to inform us of the brutality and injustice committed by the Spanish in the past. It has opened our minds to the
need of defending our nation.

Finally, Dr. Jose Rizal's legacy won us freedom and independence from Spain on June 12, and our flag was given a chance to rise again
and show how much of an influence we can have. The Filipinos hold Dr. Jose Rizal's compassion, bravery, or should I say patriotism, and
nationalism in high regard. Nationalism has also demonstrated its ability to unite a country and transcend any political, social, or religious
divisions there may be.
