Activity: Copy and paste faces


In this activity, you will copy faces in a solid body to another location, offset the
faces, and paste them into the solid body.

Copy the faces of the curved slot


1. Open syn2_copy_paste_faces.

2. Choose Home→Synchronous Modeling group→Copy Face .


3. Select Top Border bar→Face Rule list→Boss or Pocket Faces.
4. Select one of the faces of the curved slot as shown.

5. In the Transform group, from the Motion list, select Angle.


6. Select the datum axis as shown.

7. In the Angle box, type 180 and press Enter.


8. In the Paste group, clear the Paste Copied Faces check box.

9. Click the middle mouse button.

Offset the copied faces


1. Right-click the solid body and choose Hide.

The copied faces are a single sheet body.

2. Choose Home→Synchronous Modeling group→Offset Region .


3. Select Top Border bar→Face Rule list→Boss or Pocket Faces.
4. Select the bottom face of the pocket as shown.

5. If the direction arrow is pointing upward, double-click the arrow so it points


downward.

6. In the Distance box, type 2.


7. Click the middle mouse button to offset the faces.

Paste the copied faces in the solid body


1. In the Part Navigator, right-click Body (1) and choose Show.

2. Choose Home→Synchronous Modeling group→Paste Face .


3. Select the solid body as the target body.

4. Select the copied sheet body as the tool body.

5. Click the middle mouse button to complete the paste command.

The second slot is a copy of the first but cuts deeper into the part.

6. Close the part now or close all parts when you exit the session.
