Activity: Make faces parallel and tangent


In this activity, you will make faces parallel and tangent to each other.

Make faces parallel


The design intent is to modify the two highlighted faces so they are parallel.

1. Open syn2_strut.

2. Choose Home tab→Synchronous Modeling group→Make Parallel .


3. Select the face shown as the motion face.

4. Select the face shown as the stationary face.

5. In the Make Parallel dialog box, in the Through Point group, click Specify

Point .
6. Select the end point shown.

You do not always have to select a point, but if you do, it gives you more
control over the results.

7. To complete making the two faces parallel and to advance to the next task,

choose Hometab→Synchronous Modeling group→Make Tangent .

Make faces tangent


The design intent is to modify the two coplanar faces to be tangent with the
cylindrical face.

1. Select the face shown as the motion face.

2. Select the face shown as the stationary face.

3. In the Make Tangent dialog box, in the Through Point group, click Specify

Point .
4. Select the end point shown.

5. In the Make Tangent dialog box, in the Motion Group, on the Results tab,
make sure theCoplanar check box is selected.

6. Click OK.

7. Close the part now or close all parts when you exit the session.
