Chess Tournament Rules

Rule 1: Event Summary

A. The chess tournament will feature single players competing in the classic chess board game
B. The tournament will begin at 6:00pm and will conclude by 10:00pm
C. Depending on participant numbers, the tournament may be single elimination, pool play, or another format.

Rule 2: Gameplay
A. The rules of the tournament will be based on the Rules and Basics at chess.com. See the full game rules here.
B. No player substitutions will be allowed.
C. Games will not be played with a clock, however, Sports Programs staff have the authority to place players on a
1-minute time limit per move if needed to keep the tournament on time.

Rule 3: Prizes
A. The winning player will receive an Intramural Sports championship t-shirt
