app to create a personalized story on objects they can see inside the classroom.
Activity The students will have a brief overview of the five senses. We will then zone
in on the sense of sight, and have a discussion about everyday objects that
we can see. In small groups, students will take turns using iPads to take
pictures of what they see in the classroom. Once they have taken 4
pictures, they will return to their seats, and the teacher will aide in the
process of uploading their pictures to the computer. Once their images are
uploaded, use the following steps to complete this activity:

1) Use a visual to show students what the Book Creator App looks like
on the computer, and have them click on it.
2) They will need to enter the class code in order to be able to create
and read each other’s books. The class code is HTGSVJ5.
3) Tell students to click on the orange rectangle at the top of the
screen the says “New Book.”
4) Allow students to click on the layout of their choosing.
5) Demonstrate the process of dragging their images/pictures from
their desktop onto their book pages.
6) Use a visual to show students what the (+) symbol looks like, and
have them click on it on their page to add text. Students must use the
reoccurring question “What do you see?” at the beginning of each page, and
as the title of their book.
7) Show students how to add background color and decorations by
clicking on the blue lowercase italicized “i” that is located next to the (+)
symbol.
8) Once the students have completed their books with the images and
words, the last step is for them to record themselves reading it. To do this,
have students click on the (+) and then click on the microphone symbol to
record. They will then need to click on the yellow rectangle at the top of the
page that pops up with the microphone symbol inside. Once they click on
that, there will be a visual countdown from 3 to indicate when the recording
will start. When finished reading the words on the page, students will need
to click on the white rectangle that says “stop recording.” Students must do
this for every page in their book.
9) When finished with all of the above steps, have the students click on
the triangle button to view their masterpiece.
