Left Ventricle

In brief
• Ventriculus sinister = left ventricle
• The most important chamber of the heart. It pumps oxygen-rich blood through the body.
• To do this, it must produce the required systemic blood pressure and therefore has the
thickest and most muscular wall of all chambers.
• Its position is left and lateral in the heart. It rests caudally on the diaphragm.
