Rationale of study

Research is a scientific & systematic analysis of a specific topic. Research gives an opportunity to the student to put into practice the tool and technique learned theoretically in the reality and have practical exposure to the field. . Research helps the student to analyze the problem, formulating hypothesis, collecting facts and analyzing them, then reaching certain conclusion. As the researcher this project helped me to understand various personal loan schemes. It gave me an insight on the topic i.e. types of personal loan, its preference by customers and about the awareness of customers regarding various loan segments, their problems & suggestions. The research is on the topic of PERSONAL LOAN A COMPARATIVE STUDY.I have put in my complete efforts to make this report free from any kind of errors and present it with accuracy.

Objectives of the study

The major objectives of study of personal loan of SBI & ICICI are: a) PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: 1) To analyze various loan schemes of SBI & ICICI. b) Secondary objectives: 1) To study the customers of SBI personal loan on various basis. 2) To compare the services of SBI & ICICI. 3) To study the satisfaction level of customers about personal loans.

METHODOLOGY:
A systematic approach is essential in any project work. The increasingly complex nature of business and government has focused attention on the use of research in solving operational problems. The researcher has to collect data from different sources for further analysis. There are two types of data :I. II. I. PRIMARY DATA SECONDARY DATA PRIMARY DATA COLLECTION

Primary data are those which are directly collected from the field of investigation. These data are those which are collected for the first time. These are collected by the researcher according to a planned way fixed up by him in the beginning of the project. Though primary data is expensive but the conclusions through them are more realistic & reliable. Main methods which have been used in the study are: y Questionnaires y Interviews y Direct personal investigation

II.

SECONDARY DATA COLLECTION

Secondary data are those which are in existence before the start of investigation. They are either published or unpublished data and are not in their real shape. Secondary data can be collected either internally or externally from the researchers, research journals, newspapers, etc... Main methods which have been used in the study are: y y y y Newspapers Journals Organizations website Brochures & literature of organization

y Pamphlets y Website www.sbilife.com www.onlinesbi.com

THE TOOLS THAT HAD BEEN USED IN ANALYSIS OF THE RESEARCH WORK ARE:y Questionnaires y Percentages y Bar charts

DESCRIPTION OF BAR CHARTS BAR CHARTS are used to represent the date in a representative way. With the help of bar charts data can be varied very easily in terms of quality & quantity. It makes the data easy to understand as it is in pictorial form with highlights. They give a clear picture of comparison to the readers.

SAMPLE SIZE A sample is any n number of items which represent the whole population. Sample size is the actual data in quantitative terms which is studied in the sample survey. Large sample gives reliable result than small sample but it is not feasible to target entire population or even a substantial portion to achieve a reliable result. So, in this aspect selecting the sample to study is known as sample size. Hence, for my project my sample size was 30. The Sample Size consists of both the Professional and Business class people.

GEOGRAPHICAL AREA COVERED Entire Bhopal city. The primary data has been collected through questionnaire filled by the respondents which includes multiple choice questions, open ended questions. Information was also collected by interviewing the personal loan department head of Bhopal branch. The secondary data has been collected through brochures ,pamphlets, newspaper ,and books of SBI and also from companys website on internet.

LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

Every research has its own limitations & the present research work is no exception to this general rule. The inherent limitations of the study are as under:

1. To collect the data from bank was quite difficult due to non- cooperation of bank employees. 2. To access the customers was difficult because of non-cooperative attitude of respondents. 3. The time available was limited so data was not analyzed in depth. 4. Study could have been more detailed ,if the sample size would have been 500 5. The study had limited geographical coverage area. 6. The conclusion arrived at are based on a very less experience of researcher in this field.
