Patriotism is a kind of strong passion that incites to serve one's country.

Since we all play

a part as Malaysian, we must always show allegiance and appreciation to our country. But do
the Malaysian really have passion towards their country? Our politicians have been
pressuring all the medias to plant some love in youths towards the country. Malaysians don't
seem to like Malaysia enough. As far as this important problem is concerned, few people play
a key role in overcoming it.

Firstly, we all should be focused on the government to raise the bars. The government
will randomly choose who will take the three-month draft course. Through this program, the
generation will have the opportunity to socialize with the different generations that have
come from different ethnicities, religious and cultural backgrounds. By this, youths will be
more inspired to deeply understand other religion cultural and custom tradition. Alongside,
we can avoid misunderstanding happening between other races to avoid the incident of the
black day May 13, 1969 repeating again.

The school is still considered the students' second home. Schools have to step forward to
plant the patriotism seed in the younger soul. For example, schools can run campaigns that
help build students' confidence in the importance of showing patriotism to their country.
Other than that, schools should make it mandatory to sing our national anthem, “Negaraku” at
every gathering. Although a simple action, it would be a great way to show our devotion to
Malaysia. During the week before the National Day, the school can take the opportunity to
organize various activities such as the theme of patriotism, an essay writing contest, etc.

Last but not least, parental responsibility in this area is very important. Study shows that
children spend ¾ of their day at home. Parents plays the most eternal part as their children
watch them and learn. Parents should be the greatest example of patriotism and educate their
child that our country is non other less or any better than other foreign countries. For
example, they can allow their kids to participate in patriotic activities organised in schools
and by government. Therefore, by educating young people about patriotism, we ensure that
national unity continues into the future.

To conclude, our country is already an example to unity and we can improve it even
stronger by raising these younger generations with love and responsibility towards their
country.
