BRIGADA PAGBASA

The Brigada Pagbasa is a national movement towards reading that aims to bring
together all education to supports and contribute to the nation building by helping Filipino children
how to read in the context of partnership. This is to support the Deped’s goal to provide children
access to quality education and aims to cultivate a culture of reading among learners and help those
who need further assistance in developing their literacy skills.

Reading is the key that unlocks the door to the other world of enlightenment and
enjoyment. A child to read is a child who knows. This skill helps children in attaining other skills.
Without the ability to read children will have hard time dealing with other skills.

In connection with this program by the Department of Education, Angkiray Elementary

School seek to enhance the reading skills of the learners. Amidst the crisis faced by learners,
Angkiray Elementary School continues to promote literacy of learners through the Brigada Pagbasa
program. Teachers and parents provided supports to learners this would cultivate in children the love
for reading books, develop their reading and writing skills and build skills for expression.

` Last May 20, 2022, teachers’, and School Head of Angkiray Elementary School,
headed by Mrs. Gloria T. Bueno conducted Brigada Pagbasa Culmination Program. The contest is
open to the learners from kindergarten to Grade 6. The contested categories are the following.

1. Oral Reading from Kindergarten to Grade 6

2. Oral Reading with Comprehension

3. Manuscript Writing

4. Spelling Bee

The contest is open by category from kindergarten to Grade 6 pupils, each grade shall have 3
participants in each class. The participants will be given a copy according to their level. Entries will
be judged according to the criteria given. Top 3 will be awarded each grade level and the decision of
the judges is final and irrevocable.
