2. General objective and the rephrased statement of the problem (DO NOT use
numbers in enumerating the statement of the problem)
3. Cite the GENERAL methods and tools used in the development of the system
(DO NOT give details since it is described in the body of the paper)
4. Give the MAJOR FINDINGS/RESULT of the study

Chapter I

INTRODUCTION

There should be an INTRODUCTORY paragraph – that is BRIEF but CONCISE

discussion/description

Project Context
 Please include the following:
 the setting or context or frame of reference
 gives general statement(s) about your field of research to provide the
reader with a preview of the problem to be reported.
 more statements about the general aspects of the problem already
investigated by other researchers.
 reasons/justification “why there is need to conduct the stuy or why is
it worth doing?”

Purpose and Description

 Discussion of an end to be obtained.

Objective
 Please included the following:
 general statement or objective of the study
 specific objectives or statement of the problems following the template
as necessary:
o Characterization
o Design
o Development
o Implementation

Scope and Delimitation

 Please included the following:
 what is not covered in the study which are supposed to be included in
the design and development of the study (e.g. functionalities or
features of the study)
 use past tense

Significance of the Study

 Please be sure to:
 identify the right beneficiary
 explore all the benefits that can be received by these
beneficiaries/stakeholders
 use past tense

Chapter II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND SYSTEM

Line spacing:
 First heading: double space Spacing before: Auto Spacing after: Auto
 Body: double space Spacing before: 0 pt Spacing after: 0 pt
 Next heading: double space Spacing before: 30 pt Spacing after Auto
 Body: double space Spacing before: 0 pt Spacing after 0 pt

For the body:

 Only the first sentence of the paragraph is indented by 1.50 cm.
 The alignment is justified.
 Two spaces between period and another sentence.
 No extra space will be given after the last sentence and another paragraph
Note: please follow the suggested structure (margins/spacing in writing the
manuscript)
Review of Related Literature
Please follow these suggestions:
 Must have an INTRODUCTORY paragraph relating to the chapter
 Must be organized by themes, concepts or software requirements
(these are just some suggestions – it depends on your reviewed
lit/study)
 Sub-headings must be:
o Review of Related Literatures (no need to label “local and
foreign”)
o Review of Related System (no need to label “local and foreign”)
o
 The format of reference for nonverbatim statements is as follows:
 Example:
 According to Pura (year) …
 As stated by Pura (year)…
 The study of Pura (year)
OR
 It has been said that…… (author, year).
 Time frame of at least 5 years

Review of Related System

Synthesis of the Art

 Please follow these suggestions:
 need to group/organize authors, you can do it by presenting it in
terms of
o characteristics/focus of study
o software used in the study
o hardware used in the study
o etc.
 if possible statistics (number of reviwed literature/study) be cited
 eg. Five of the researchers: Atole (2013), Briones (2011),
Indico (2011), Fajardo (2013) and Oquialda (2009) focused on
the software requirements in development of their study that
include MySQL, PHP and Visual Basic…..
Note: these are just suggestions – other parameters may be included

Gap Bridge by the Study

 Please follow these suggestions:
 state the unique feature of your study in comparison with the
reviewed literature/study
 it could be on the software requirements, features,
modules/functionalities of the study
 could be based from the synthesis-of- the- art
 e.g.
Based from the reviewed literature and systems
Note: these are just but suggestions only –other parameters may be included
Definition of terms:
 state how you defined the terminologies used in the study – either
conceptual or operational
o conceptual – author must be cited
o operational – no need to write your name(s)
 please observe brief aand concise definition of terms

NOTE: Internet references should NOT be included as much as possible.

Chapter III

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Line spacing: Double Spacing before: 30 pt Spacing after: Auto

o INTRODUCTORY paragraph relating this part of the paper

Software Requirements
 Discussion of the appropriate software requirements needed to
develop the system.

Hardware Requirements
 Discussion of the appropriate hardware requirements needed to
develop the system.

Chapter IV

METHODOLOGY

Line spacing:Double Spacing before: 30 pt Spacing after:Auto

o INTRODUCTORY paragraph relating this part of the paper

Requirements specification
 Discussion of the functions of the system. This is supported by Functional
Diagram and Data Flow Diagram.

Analysis
 Discussion of the behavioral properties that the system must have.
 These behavioral properties should follow the PIECES framework.
(performance (speed), security, usability, economic impact and related
topics).

Design
 Discussion of the Logical and Conceptual Design of the system.
 This part is supported by System Flowchart, Entity-Relationship
Diagram, Data Dictionary, System Prototype, etc

Development and Testing

 Concrete explanation/discussion on how the system is developed and
tested (dry run). You may pattern your discussion in an SDLC (Software
Development Life Cycle Model) that suits your project.

Statistical Tools
 determine/identify and explain
o the statistical treatment for each sub-problem
o scales of values (Likertsacle) used and the descriptive or verbal
equivalent ratings
 include equation(s) if any

Chapter V

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

Must include the following:

 INTRODUCTORY paragraph
 cite or present the data chronologically –in consonance with the
objective(s) or statement of the study
 tables must be labeled at the top while figures must be labeled at the
bottom
 never cut tables and/or figures
 a qualitative description or discussion must follow every after the table
of figure
 must be discussed in Past tense

Chapter VI

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Must include the following sub-headings:

 include
 INTRODUCTORY paragraph
 sub-heading for
 summary of findings
o present it in consonance with the objectives and
serve as sub-heading
o do not copy and paste the result-just draw the
substance of the results
 conclusion (General)–based on the results/findings of the
study
 recommendation(s) – based on the results/problems
encountered/ of the study
 e.g.
This part of the paper presents the summary findings of the study, conclusion
and the recommendations to facilitate readers for better understanding of the study.

Chapter VI

IMPLEMEMNTATION PLAN

 Discussion of the hardware and software requirements needed in the

implementation of the system.
 Present some strategy on the training needs of the user/stakeholder to foster
familiarity about the system.
 Include a network infrastructure presenting the hardware and software
components of the system (in a diagram).
