IBM’S STRETCH PROJECT

Stretch was created, delivered and sold available as the fastest super-computer on the planet,
however it was not even close as fast as proposed. Since it neglected to achieve its objective,
IBM needed to drop Stretch's cost to $7.8 million (from a planned $13.5 million) which implied
the framework was evaluated underneath expense. Just 9 Stretch PCs were ever manufactured,
and it was in the end removed from the market. IBM considered Stretch a disappointment. It
majorly failed because as IBM proposed its speed to be before project initiation, it did not turn
out be as fast after it was completed. IBM did not run benchmark test and did not have any
realistic speed tests for STRETCH to make sure that they are delivering what they had
proposed. Due to this they had to decrease the selling cost as well and which in turn forced IBM
into a loss as they had planned a selling price of $13.5 million which dropped by $5.7 million.
There was also Inaccurate time and effort estimates, because if IBM had planned benchmark
testing in the project proposal during development stage, they would have required more time as
they had proposed which was 1960. When proposing for a dramatically new system, IBM did not
have any realistic figures regarding the cost of the project. They mentioned as a few more
millions of dollars rather than an estimate figure of to how much it would cost to develop
'STRETCH".

organization's computer systems. In addition to being an administrator, I'm in charge of server
backup systems, a security camera, and workplace lighting systems. I'm also in charge of

running the help desk and responding to staff and customer requests for computer setup, email
accounts, and general IT services. My responsibilities also include triaging help desk phone calls
and working with clients and co-workers, therefore I need good communication and teamwork
abilities.
