Priests, prudent cooperators with the Episcopal order,9 its aid and
instrument, called to serve the people of God, constitute one
priesthood,10 with their bishop although bound by a diversity of duties.
Associated with their bishop in a spirit of
trust and generosity, they make him present in a certain sense in the
individual local congregations, and take upon themselves, as far as they
are able, his duties and the burden of his care, and discharge them with
a daily interest. And as they sanctify and govern under the bishop's
authority, that part of the Lord's flock entrusted to them they make the
universal Church visible in their own locality and bring an efficacious
assistance to the building up of the whole body of Christ (cf. Ephesians
4:12). Intent always upon the welfare of God's children, they must strive
to lend their effort to the pastoral work of the whole diocese, and even of
the entire Church. On account of this sharing in their priesthood and
mission, let priests sincerely look upon the bishop as their father and
reverently obey him. And let the bishop regard his priests as his co-
workers and as sons and friends, just as Christ called His disciples now
not servants but friends (cf. John 15:15). All priests, both diocesan and
religious, by reason of Orders and ministry, fit into this body of bishops
and priests, and serve the good of the whole Church according to their
vocation and the grace given to them.
In virtue of their common sacred ordination and mission, all
priests are bound together in intimate brotherhood, which naturally and
freely manifests itself in mutual aid, spiritual as well as material,
pastoral as well as personal, in their meetings and in communion of life,
of labor and charity.
Let them, as fathers in Christ, take care of the faithful whom they
have begotten by baptism and their teaching (cf. 1 Corinthians 4:15; 1
Peter 1:23). Becoming from the heart a pattern to the flock, (cf. 1 Peter
5:3) let them so lead and serve their local community that it may
worthily be called by that name, by which the one and entire people of
God is signed, namely, the Church of God (cf. 1 Corinthians 1:2; 2
Corinthians 1:1). Let them remember that by their daily life and interests
they are showing the face of a truly sacerdotal and pastoral ministry to
the faithful and the infidel, to Catholics and non-Catholics, and that to all
they bear witness to the truth and life, and as good shepherds go after
Page 2 of 49
those also, (cf. Luke 15:4-7.) who though baptized in the Catholic Church
have fallen away from the use of the sacraments, or even from the faith.
Because the human race today is joining more and more into a
civic, economic and social unity, it is that much the more necessary that
priests, by combined effort and aid, under the leadership of the bishops
and the Supreme Pontiff, wipe out every kind of separateness, so that
the whole human race may be brought into the unity of the family of
God.

Testament. Partakers of the function of Christ, the sole Mediator (1
Timothy 2:5), on their level of ministry, they announce the divine word to
all. They exercise their sacred function especially in the Eucharistic
worship or the celebration of the Mass by which acting in the person of
Christ and proclaiming His Mystery, they unite the prayers of the
faithful with the sacrifice of their Head and renew and apply in the
sacrifice of the Mass until the coming of the Lord (cf. 1 Corinthians 11:26)
the only sacrifice of the New Testament namely that of Christ offering
Himself once for all a spotless Victim to the Father (cf. Hebrews 9:11-28).
For the sick and the sinners among the faithful, they exercise the
ministry of alleviation and reconciliation and they present the needs and
the prayers of the faithful to God the Father (Hebrews 5:1-4).
Exercising within the limits of their authority the function of Christ
as Shepherd and Head, they gather together God's family as a
brotherhood all of one mind, and lead them in the Spirit, through Christ,
to God the Father. In the midst of the flock they adore Him in spirit and
in truth (John 4:24). Finally, they labor in word and doctrine,(1 Timothy
5:17) believing what they have read and meditated upon in the law of
God, teaching what they have believed, and putting in practice in their
own lives what they have taught.”
We are gathered here to partake in the Holy Eucharist and to
witness the Ordination to the Priesthood of our brother: Rev. Jeremias
Gillego Galos to be officiated by the Most Rev. Jose Alan Verdejo
Dialogo, D.D., Bishop of Sorsogon. Together with him are the
concelebrating priests. Please all rise and join in the singing of the
entrance song.
2. All presbyters concelebrate with the Bishop in their Ordination Mass. It is most fitting that the
Bishop admit other presbyters to the concelebration; in this case and on this day the newly Ordained
Presbyters take the first place ahead of the others who concelebrate.
3. Those to be ordained wear an alb (with amice and cincture unless other provisions are made)
and deacon’s stole. A chasuble should be provided for each candidate.
The vestments for the Mass should be of the color proper to the Mass being celebrated, but they may
be white or of another festive color.
4. In the entrance procession the candidates follow other deacons and precede the
concelebrating presbyters and the Bishop with two deacons. When everything is ready, the
procession moves through the church to the altar in the usual way.
1. Incense
2. Cross
3. Candles
4. Readers and ministers of the Eucharist
5. Deacon with the Gospel Book
6. Candidate
7. Concelebrating priests
8. Bishop
5. When the people are gathered, the Bishop approaches the altar with the ministers while the
Entrance Chant is sung.
ENTRANCE SONG
When the Bishop reaches the front of the altar, he hands the staff to a minister and takes off the miter.
Together with the deacons and other ministers accompanying him, the bishop makes a deep bow to
the altar, then goes up to the altar and, together with the two deacons assisting him, kisses it. The
Book of the Gospels is placed on the altar.
If necessary, fresh incense is placed in the censer by an acolyte, and the bishop, accompanied by the
two deacons assisting him, incenses the altar and the cross.
When the altar has been incensed, the bishop, accompanied by the ministers, takes the most direct
way to the chair. The two deacons stand on either side near the chair, ready to assist the bishop. If no
deacons are present, two concelebrating presbyters serve in their place.
ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
Jeremiah 3:15
I will appoint over you shepherds after my own heart, who will shepherd you
wisely and prudently (e.t. alleluia).
GREETINGS
6. The Entrance Chant is concluded, the Bishop and the faithful, standing, sign themselves with the
Sign of the Cross, while the Bishop, facing the people says:
Amen.
7. Then the Bishop facing the people extends his hands and greets all present saying:
5. The Bishop may briefly introduce the faithful to the Mass of the day:
Jeremias to the Sacred Orders of Priests. Through the laying
on of hands and the invocation of the Holy Spirit, he will be
consecrated as God’s servant and minister of His Church,
leading His people through service, proclaiming His Word
through his words and deeds and celebrating the mysteries of
His love.
PENITENTIAL ACT
9. Then follows the Penitential Act, to which the Bishop invites the faithful, saying or
similar words:
A brief pause for silence follows. Then the Bishop says/sings the following:
BISHOP:
The absolution by the Bishop follows:
May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and
bring us to everlasting life.
The people reply:
Amen.
10. Then, this hymn is either sung or said:
GLORIA:
Let us pray.
And all pray in silence with the Bishop for a while. Then the Bishop, with hands extended, says the
Collect prayer:
Lord our God, who, in governing your people
make use of the ministry of Priests, grant a
persevering obedience to your will to this
Deacon of your Church, whom you graciously
choose today for the office of the Priesthood,
so that by his ministry and life he may gain
glory for you in Christ, who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one
God, for ever and ever.
The people reply:
Amen.
The Bishop then sits and, as a rule, receives the miter from one of the deacons. All sit. Deacons and the
other ministers should be seated wherever the arrangement of the sanctuary (chancel) allows, but in
such a way that they do not appear to be of the same rank as the presbyters.
12. Then the Reader goes to the ambo and reads the First Reading, while all sit and listen.
13. Then the Reader goes to the ambo and reads the First Reading, while all sit and listen.

In the year King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a high
and lofty throne, with the train of his garment filling the temple.
Seraphim were stationed above; each of them had six wings:
with two they veiled their faces, with two they veiled their feet,
and with two they hovered aloft. They cried one to the other:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts! All the earth is filled with
his glory!” At the sound of that cry, the frame of the door shook
and the house was filled with smoke. Then I said: “Woe is me, I
am doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, living among a
people of unclean lips; yet my eyes have seen the King, the Lord
of hosts!” Then one of the seraphim flew to me, holding an
ember that he had taken with tongs from the altar. He touched
my mouth with it and said: “See, now that this has touched
your lips, your wickedness is removed, your sin purged.” Then
I heard the voice of the Lord saying: “Whom shall I send? Who
will go for us?” “Here I am,” I said, “send me!”
14. The Psalmist or Cantor sings or says the Psalm, with the people making the
response.

15. After this, a Reader reads the Second Reading, from the ambo, as above.

transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern
what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.
Let love be sincere; hate what is evil, hold on to what is good;
love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another
in showing honor. Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit,
serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere
in prayer.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
15. The Alleluia or some other song follows, depending on the liturgical season. When the
Alleluia begins, everyone but the Bishop stands.
ALLELUIA (Sung)
The Censer bearer goes to the bishop and, as one of the deacons presents the incense boat, the bishop
puts incense into the censer and blesses it, saying nothing.
16. The Deacon who is to proclaim the gospel reading makes a deep bow before the Bishop and
asks for a blessing, saying quietly:
May the Lord be in your heart and on your lips, that you may proclaim
his Gospel worthily and well, in the name of the Father and of the Son +
and of the Holy Spirit.
The Deacon signs himself with the sign of the cross and replies: Amen.
Amen.
17. The Deacon goes to the altar, where he is joined by the censerbearer holding the censer with
burning incense and by the acolytes with lighted candles. After bowing to the altar, the deacon
reverently takes the Book of the Gospel and, without any further reverence to the altar, carries the
book with solemnity to the ambo, preceded by the censerbearer and the acolytes with candles.
(John 20:19-23)
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the
Father has sent me, so I send you.”
After the gospel reading, the Deacon takes the book to the Bishop, who kisses it, saying inaudibly:
Through the words of the Gospel may our sins be wiped away.
Alternately, the deacon himself kisses the book and inaudibly says the same words. Finally the deacon
and the other ministers return to their places. The Book of the Gospels is taken to a side table or some
other suitable place.
11 This Rite of Ordination of One Priest is based on THE ROMAN PONTIFICAL in accord with
THE ROMAN MISSAL, Third Typical Edition.
19. The Bishop, if necessary, goes to the seat prepared for the Ordination, and the
presentation of the candidate takes place.
Present.
20. When the candidate is in his place before the Bishop, the Priest designated by the Bishop
says:
Bishop:
Relying on the help of the Lord God and our Savior Jesus
Christ, we choose Rev. Jeremias, our brother, for the Order of
the Priesthood.
All present say:
Thanks be to God.
The Commentator exhorts the people:
21. Then, all sit and the bishop gives homily. He may use the miter and pastoral staff. He
gives the homily seated in the chair (cathedra), unless he prefers some other place in order to
be easily seen and heard by all. As circumstances suggest, a period of silence may be
observed after the homily.
HOMILY
22. Then the Bishop, while all are seated, gives the Homily. Taking his theme from the
biblical readings just proclaimed in the Liturgy of the Word, he addresses the people and the
elect on the priestly office. He may do so in these or similar words:
Beloved brothers and sisters: because this our son, who is your relative
and friend, is now to be advanced to the Order of Priests, consider
carefully the nature of the rank in the Church to which he is about to be
raised.
It is true that God has made his entire holy people a royal priesthood in
Christ. Nevertheless, our great Priest himself, Jesus Christ, chose certain
disciples to carry out publicly in his name, and on behalf of mankind, a
priestly office in the Church. For Christ was sent by the Father and he in
turn sent the
Apostles into the world, so that through them and their successors, the
Bishops, he might continue to exercise his office of Teacher, Priest, and
Page 19 of 49
Shepherd. Indeed, Priests are established co-workers of the Order of
Bishops, with whom they are joined in the priestly office and with whom
they are called to the service of the People of God.
In being configured to Christ the eternal High Priest and joined to the
Priesthood of the Bishops, he will be consecrated as a true Priest of the
New Testament, to preach the Gospel, to shepherd God's people, and to
celebrate the sacred liturgy, especially the Lord's Sacrifice.
Now, dear son, you are to be raised to the Order of the Priesthood. For
your part you will exercise the sacred duty of teaching in the name of
Christ the
Teacher. Impart to everyone the word of God which you have received
with joy. Meditating on the law of the Lord, see that you believe what
you read, that you teach what you believe, and that you practice what
you teach.
In this way, let what you teach be nourishment for the People of God.
Let the holiness of your life be a delightful fragrance to Christ's faithful.
so that by word and example you may build up the house which is
God's Church. Likewise you will exercise in Christ the office of
sanctifying. For by your ministry the spiritual sacrifice of the faithful will
be made perfect, being united to the Sacrifice of Christ, which will be
offered through your hands in an unbloody way on the altar, in union
with the faithful, in the celebration of the sacraments. Understand,
therefore, what you do and imitate what you celebrate. As a celebrant of
the mystery of the Lord's Death and Resurrection, strive to put to death
whatever in your members is sinful, and to walk in newness of life.
Remember, when you gather others into the People of God through
Baptism, and when you forgive sins in the name of Christ and the
Church in the Sacrament of Penance; when you comfort the sick with
holy oil and celebrate the sacred rites, when you offer prayers of praise
and thanks to God throughout the hours of the day, not only for the
People of God but for the whole world-remember then that you are
taken from among men and appointed on their behalf for those things
Page 20 of 49
that pertain to God. Therefore, carry out the ministry of Christ the Priest
with constant joy and genuine love, attending not to your own concerns
but to those of Jesus Christ.
Finally, dear son, exercising for your part the office of Christ, Head and
Shepherd, while united with the Bishop and subject to him, strive to
bring the faithful together into one family, so that you may lead them to
God the Father through Christ in the Holy Spirit, Keep always before
your eyes the example of the Good Shepherd who came not to be served
but to serve, and who came to seek out and save what was lost.
23. After the Homily, the elect alone rises and stands before the Bishop, who questions him
in these words:
Dear son, before you enter the Order of the Priesthood, you
must declare before the people your intention to undertake
this office.
Do you resolve, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to discharge
without fail the office of Priesthood in the presbyteral rank,
as a worthy fellow worker with the Order of Bishops in
caring for the Lord's flock?
The elect replies:
I do.
Bishop:
Do you resolve to exercise the ministry of the word worthily
and wisely, preaching the Gospel and teaching the Catholic
faith?
Elect:
I do.
Bishop:
Do you resolve to celebrate faithfully and reverently, in
accord with the Church's tradition, the mysteries of Christ,
especially the Sacrifice of the Eucharist and the Sacrament of
Reconciliation, for the glory of God and the sanctification of
the Christian people?
Elect:
I do.
Bishop:
Do you resolve to implore with us God's mercy upon the
people entrusted to your care by observing the command to
pray without ceasing?
Elect:
I do.
Bishop:
Do you resolve to be united more closely every day to Christ
the High Priest, who offered himself for us to the Father as a
pure Sacrifice, and with him to consecrate yourself to God for
the salvation of all?
Elect:
24. Then the elect goes to the Bishop and, kneeling before him, places his joined hands
between those of the Bishop.
I do.
The Bishop always concludes:
May God who has begun the good work in you bring it to
fulfillment.
LITANY OF SUPPLICATION
The Commentator exhorts the people:
Please stand.
25. Then all stand. After putting aside the miter, the Bishop stands, faces the people,
and, with hands joined, invites them to pray:
26. The elect prostrates himself and the Litany is sung, all reply. On Sundays and during
Easter Time, all in the assembly remain standing. On other days. however, they kneel, in
which case a Deacon says:
Let us kneel.
The cantors then begin the Litany, but the invocations concerning the elect are said in the
singular.
At the proper place in the Litany, there may be added of other Saints (for example, the
Patron Saint, the Titular of the church, the Founder of the church, the Patron Saints of the
ones to be ordained) or other petitions suitable to the occasion.
Saint Teresa of Jesus, pray for us.
All holy men and women, pray for us.
Saints of God; pray for us.
Bless these chosen men, Lord, we ask you, hear our prayer.
Jesus, Son of the living God, Lord, we ask you, hear our prayer.
Christ, hear us. Christ, hear us.
Christ, graciously hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.
27. After the singing of the Litany, the Bishop standing, with hands extended, sings or says:
All reply:
Amen.
Deacon/commentator (if the people are kneeling):
LAYING ON OF HANDS AND PRAYER OF ORDINATION
28. The elect rises. He goes to the Bishop, who stands at his chair wearing the miter, and
kneels before him.
29. The Bishop lays his hands upon his head, without saying anything.
After the Bishop has laid on hands, all the Priests present, wearing stoles, lay hands on the
elect, without saying anything. After the Laying On of Hands, the Priests remain alongside
the Bishop until the end of the Prayer of Ordination in such a way that the faithful may have
a clear view of the rite.
30. With the elect kneeling before him, the Bishop puts aside the miter, and, with hands
extended, he sings or says the Prayer of Ordination:
Prayer of Ordination
Draw near, O Lord, Holy Father, almighty and
eternal God, author of human dignity: it is you
who apportion all graces. Through you
everything progresses; through you all things are
made to stand firm. To form a priestly people you
appoint ministers of Christ your Son by the
power of the Holy Spirit, arranging them in
different orders.
So also upon the sons of Aaron you poured an
abundant share of their father's plenty, that the
number of the priests prescribed by the Law might
be sufficient for the sacrifices of the tabernacle,
which were a shadow of the good things to come.
Together with us, may he be a faithful steward of your
mysteries, so that your people may be renewed in the
waters of rebirth and nourished from your altar; so that
sinners may be reconciled and the sick raised up. May he
be joined with us, Lord, in imploring your mercy for the
people entrusted to his care and for all the world.
Amen. (sung)
The Commentator exhorts the people:
31. After the Prayer of Ordination, all sit. The Bishop puts on the miter and the
newly ordained Priest stands. The Priests assisting the Bishop return to their
places, but one of them helps the newly ordained Priest to arrange the stole in
the manner proper to Priests and to put on the chasuble.
The Lord Jesus Christ,
whom the Father anointed
with the Holy Spirit and power,
guard and preserve you
that you may sanctify the Christian people
and offer sacrifice to God.
Then, the Bishop and the newly ordained Priest wash their hands.
33. During the investiture with stole and chasuble and the anointing of hands, the
following antiphon is sung with Psalm 109 (110).
Or another appropriate liturgical song of the same kind with suitable antiphons may
be sung especially when Psalm 109 (110) was used as the Responsorial Psalm in the
Liturgy of the Word.
34. Next, some of the faithful bring a paten holding the bread and a chalice
containing the wine mixed with water for the celebration of Mass.
A Deacon receives them and brings them to the Bishop, who places them in the hand of
the newly ordained Priest as he kneels before him.
to be offered to God.
Understand what you do, imitate what you celebrate,
and conform your life to the mystery of the Lord's
Cross.
35. Lastly, the Bishop gives the newly ordained Priest the fraternal kiss, saying:
Likewise, all the Priests present, or at least some of them, give the fraternal kiss to the
newly ordained Priest
Another appropriate liturgical song of the same kind with suitable antiphons may be
sung, especially when Psalm 99 (100) was used as the Responsorial Psalm in the The
Liturgy of the word.
37. The Mass continues in the usual way. The Profession of Faith is said when
required by the rubrics: the Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful) is omitted.
38. When all this has been done, the Offertory Chant begins. Meanwhile, the Deacon/s
bring/s the offerings for the celebrant to the bishop; he/they assist at the altar.
OFFERTORY CHANT
The Bishop, standing at the altar, takes the paten with bread and holding it slightly raised
above the altar, says quietly:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness we have
received the bread we offer you: fruit of
the earth and work of human hands, it
will become for us the bread of life.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Presider may say the preceding words in an
audible voice; then the people may respond:
Blessed be God for ever.
39. A Deacon pours wine and a little water into the chalice, saying quietly:
By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the
divinity of Christ who humbled himself to share in our humanity.
40. The Bishop then takes the chalice and holds it slightly raised above the altar with both hands,
saying in a low voice:
Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation,
for through your goodness we have
received the wine we offer you: fruit of
the earth and work of human hands, it
will become our spiritual drink.
If, however, the Offertory Chant is not sung, the Presider may say the preceding words in an
audible voice; then the people may respond:
Blessed be God for ever.
42. If appropriate, he also incenses the offerings, the cross, and the altar. A Deacon or other
minister then incenses the Priests and the people.
43. Then the Bishop, standing at the side of the altar, washes his hands, saying quietly:
44. Standing at the middle of the altar, facing the people, extending and then joining his
hands, he says:
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory
of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church.
PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS

holy people in charity, to nourish them with
your word and strengthen them with the
Sacraments.
And so, Lord, with all the Angels and Saints, we,
too, give you thanks, as in exultation we acclaim:
SANCTUS (Sung)
You are indeed Holy, O Lord, and all you have created rightly
gives you praise, for through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ
by the power and working of the Holy Spirit, you give life to
all things and make them holy, and you never cease to gather
a people to yourself, so that from the rising of the sun to its
setting a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.
47. He joins his hands and, holding them extended over the offerings, says:
Celebrant with
Concelebrants

that they may become the Body and + Blood of our Lord, Jesus
Christ,
He joins his hands.
48. In the formulas that follow, the words of the Lord should be pronounced clearly and
distinctly, as the nature of these words requires.

Look, we pray, upon the oblation of your Church and,
recognizing the sacrificial Victim by whose death you willed
to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we, who are nourished
by the Body and Blood of your Son and filled with his Holy
Spirit, may become one body, one spirit in Christ.

52. He takes the chalice and the paten with the host and, raising both, he sings or says:
Celebrant alone or
with Concelebrants
Amen.

53. After the chalice and paten have been set down, the Bishop, with hands joined, says:

that, by the help of your mercy, we may
be always free from sin and safe from
all distress, as we await the blessed
hope and the coming of our Savior,
Jesus Christ.
He joins his hands.
For the Kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever.
Amen.
56. The Bishop, turned towards the people, extending and then joining his hands, adds:
And with your spirit.
57. Then the Bishop takes the Host, breaks it over the paten, and places a small piece in the
chalice, saying quietly:
May this mingling of the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ bring
eternal life to us who receive it.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who, by the will of the Father
and the work of the Holy Spirit, through your Death gave life to the
world, free me by this, your most holy Body and Blood, from all my sins
and from evil; keep me always faithful to your commandments, and
never let me be parted from you.
Or:
May the receiving of your Body and Blood, Lord Jesus Christ, not bring
me judgment and condemnation, but through your loving mercy be for
me protection in mind and body and a healing remedy.
60. The Bishop genuflects, takes the host and, holding it slightly raised above the paten or
above the chalice, while facing the people, says aloud:
Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only
say the word and my soul shall be healed.
62. When the Bishop has received the blood of the Lord, he hands the cup to one of the
deacons and gives communion to the deacons and the faithful. He raises a host slightly
and shows it to each of them, saying:
Amen.
If a Deacon also distributes Holy Communion, he does so in the same manner.
63. While the Bishop is receiving the Body of Christ, the Communion Chant begins.
The concelebrants go up to the altar and receive the blood of the Lord from a deacon, who
presents the cup and wipes it with a purificator after the communion of each concelebrant.
What has passed our lips as food, O Lord, may we possess in purity of
heart, that what has been given to us in time may be our healing for
eternity.
64. When the Bishop return to the chair after the communion, he puts on the skullcap and, if need be,
washes his hands. All are seated and a period of prayerful silence may follow, or a song of praise
or a psalm may be sung.
Go into all the world, and proclaim the gospel. I am with you always, says
the lord (e.t. alleluia).
65. Standing at the chair as a minister holds the book or after returning to the altar with the
deacons, the Bishop sings or says,
Let us pray.
With hands outstretched, he continues with the prayer after communion, which is preceded
by a brief period of silence, unless this has been observed immediately after communion.

worthy service to your majesty. Through
Christ our Lord.
The people respond at the end of the prayer with the acclamation:
Amen.
Please remain standing for the Hymn to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
66. When the prayer after communion has been said, any necessary, brief announcement are made.
The Commentator instructs the people:
3. After the final blessing, the Newly-Ordained Priest will pose for
picture taking with His Excellency and the Clergy. We also request
that the faithful remain in their seats first and to allow our Newly-
Ordained Priests to have their picture taken with their family.
After the picture taking with His Excellency, the Clergy and the
Family, the rest may have their picture taken with the Newly-Ordained

Please all rise.
CONCLUDING RITE
68. Finally, the Bishop receives the miter and, with hands outstretched, greets the people
saying:
70. The Bishop gives the solemn blessing, choosing an appropriate formulary from among
those given in The Roman Missal, The Roman Pontifical, or The Roman Ritual. As he
recites the invocations or prayer of the solemn blessing, the bishop holds his hand
outstretched over the newly-ordained Deacons and the people. All reply, Amen.
May God, who founded the Church and guides her still,
protect you constantly with his grace, that you may
faithfully discharge the duties of the Priesthood.
The Newly-Ordained Priest and the people reply:

Amen.
He adds:
He adds:
And may the blessing of almighty God, the + Father, and the
+ Son, and the + Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain
with you forever.
Thanks be to God.
73. Then the Bishop and the rest of the Clergy venerate the altar as usual with a kiss, as at
the beginning. After making a profound bow with the ministers, they withdraw. After
the dismissal, a fitting final song is sung.
