5.4.2. Common Settings Tab Sheet: PLC Settings

This tab sheet is used to set parameters that are common to all instances of PLC
communication.

Fig. Common Settings tab sheet

“Abnormality Monitoring Timer” is a timer that allows an eCUBE Unit to monitor for
responses from a PLC. An error event is output if a response is not received within the
set time period. The time setting should be sufficiently longer than the data update
request interval. The initial setting of approximately 30 seconds is recommended.

“Data Update Request” is a setting for the interval at which the eCUBE Unit requests the
PLC to send data.
“Data Request Interval 1” for analog and discrete use is the request interval setting for
the first group (a group in which the count is limited for high-speed communication).
"Data Request Interval 2" (*) is the request interval setting for the second group (for low-
speed communication; for all communication other than the first group).

(*) Modbus/TCP Client discrete group can use only Group 1.

If the communication PLC type is “SYSMAC RS-232-C” or "Modbus RTU master RS",
then there is no data update request interval setting. (This communication type, which
relies on RS-232-C communication, is designed to send the next data request as soon
as data is received.)

Word Reverse Setting

Any single item of pulse data (effective data range: 0–99999999) is represented by a
signed 32-bit two-word integer. Since the eCUBE Unit communicates in units of words,
it successively processes each received pair of words into a single piece of pulse data.
This processing method differs depending on how the communication target stores data.
In one way, pulse data is saved by the communication target in word devices in the
sequence of low-order data and high-order data. In the other way, the pulse data is
reversely saved in the sequence of high-order data and low-order data. If the latter is
the case, select “Word Reverse.”

Modbus/TCP Client Communication Settings

Fig. Detailed Settings tab sheet (Modbus/TCP Client Communication Settings)

In the "IP Address" and "Station No" fields, set the IP address and station number
corresponding to the remote party in the communication.
The setting in the "Time-out” field is a timer value for monitoring for a response in task
processing within the eCUBE unit. Normally the default value should be used for this
setting.
For "Device Starting Number", select "1" if the remote party’s device number starts with
1, and select "0" if it starts with 0. This setting varies depending on the type of remote
party. The allowed setting range for the lead address changes in accordance with this
setting.
With the example communication address settings shown above, the following devices
will be read.
• Analog Data: 128 word devices from 300001 to 300128
