READING COMPREHENSION SKILL

How to develop reading comprehension skill for student :

1) NEW VOCABULARY
From the explanation we can conclude that, tell the students themselves the
vocabulary they think is new, do not teach at the beginning of the meeting, the
teacher should also tell how to find keywords in a paragraph.
2) READING ALOUD VS. READING COMPREHENSION
What we will teach here is the understanding of reading instead of reading
aloud so when students will be taught to understand a reading, then do not read
the text loudly this is intended so that the content in a reading can be
understood well by students.
3) INTRODUCE THE THEME OF THE TEXT FIRST.
By introducing the existing theme read, students' interest will increase, with the
increased interest of students, the mood to read will increase, so that students
are more interested in understanding reading.
4) FOLLOW UP ACTIVITIES
The teacher can tell the content of the story or tell the student to retell the
reading or the essence contained, so that the teacher can find out whether the
student understands the reading or not.
5) AUTHENTIC MATERIAL
We know that, what is understood by students is a foreign language so teachers
must provide authentic material so that reading is easier for students to
understand.

Advantage:
 Students can more easily understand reading
 Students are interested in understanding reading
 Improve reading comprehension skills

Disadvantages:
 Must have memorized a lot of vocabulary
 Students are required to be more proficient in understanding
reading
 The time it takes to understand a reading is longer.
