The Importance of Handwriting

Why should we value handwriting? With technology conquering, penmanship is pushing up the
daisies. This can affect us in many ways, and we need to know why we have to value pencraft.

Concern
Over time, writing by hand is slowly defuncting, and there will be a time when no one will depend
on pens and pencils. In the past, people used to write with cursive handwritings to send letters to
their loved ones. Writing to someone by hand shows one's concern, affection, and courtesy to
another. The joined-up words in calligraphy give a romantic sense to the reader. But these days,
people all over the world just send text messages for any cases: for business, for support, or even
companionship, which means this 'romantic era' is disappearing. It is easily predictable that
handwriting will reach its mortality.

Importance
Reason 1: Writing by hand acts as a motor; trains our hand muscles, sends the information to our
brain, including the movement and what we see.
Reason 2: Writing notes affects our mentality. It neutralizes the sections in your brain and improves
your thinking skills.
Reason 3: When writing, your eyes read, and the information is sent to your brain. Handwriting acts
as a printer and your eyes as a scanner. This allows you to retain information.
Skills gained: Memorizing, thinking, and communicating abilities.

E - efficiency has granted a more convenient way to connect with the society.
C - communication has improved and allowed people to write to each other from different parts of
the world by texting.
H - handwriting is being replaced by modern devices like MacBook and iPads; keeps your
documents organized and allows you to link your ideas with the internet.
N - new works of art such as poems and novels can now be produced without having to worry about
access to the tools.
O - online schooling can depend on technology, whereby students can do assignments adeptly.
L - long hours of work can now be done in a much shorter time, increasing efficiency across our
lives.
O - originally invented to improve people's lives.
G - grammatical errors can be automatically fixed in just one click.
Y – YET, there are flaws that technology has caused to handwriting. Students are depending on the
internet to do tasks, even the spellings, and grammar. Although technology has allowed numerous
ways of efficient methods, older people have trouble using it to good use. Devices have replaced
penmanship, and this has caused younglings to lack in thinking and writing skills.

Handwriting is important to maintain our natural skills and improve where it is needed. All in all,
as much as technology has helped us in various ways, there are flaws we need to worry about and
maintain. Handwriting has a value that words can’t express. It’s an art. It’s a talent. It’s a natural
skill.
