might not be able to?

Example

Applying for a course at college or university and being told they will only
accept you if you recieve certain grades.

What is a condition?
Something that needs to
happen for something else to
happen
Forming the first conditional

If + present simple, will + infinitive (future simple)

Example,

If you go home at 3pm, you will be stuck in traffic.


If – shows there is a condition

present simple - a verb tense used to talk


about conditions or actions happening right
now
Infinitive – basic form of the verb (before
any changes have been made)

To check it's the infinitive, put a 'to' before


the verb.

e.g. to go, to be, to see, to do, to jump


Present simple - verb modification

(positive- do) (negative – do not)

He/She/It works  He/She/It does not work

We work  We do not work

The verb only changes after the pronoun 'he, she


and it'
