SCE – LIFE SAVING EQUIPMENT, LIFE JACKETS
1.0 OVERVIEW
The objective of this PMR is to present the routines for general inspection of Life saving equipment – Life
Jackets to ensure safety, integrity and reliability of the equipment for the following areas of installation :
1. FPSO – Muster Area (LQ – lvl 3)
2. FPSO – LQ cabin room
3. FPSO – PMP area
4. WHPA – Muster Area
5. WHPB – Muster Area
2.0 SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT
2.1 Prior to the work being commenced, all safety aspects MUST be discussed and the
technicians/operators made fully aware of any relevant precautions that require to be observed,
while implementing the work (JSA).
2.2 Before commencing the Procedure ensure that SHE Polices, Standards and Guidelines are
referenced and adhered to.

3.0 WARNINGS AND CAUTIONS


1. Be cautious with all live motive power sources or stored energy such as electric, pressurised gas,
steam, fuel, pressurised liquid, spring tension.
2. Before starting any maintenance work, ensure that equipment has been locked out and tagged
out using the equipment operator’s procedure.
3. Ear defenders should be worn where the specified equipment noise level exceeds locally defined
safe level. (applicable on PMP only)

Note :
1. If from result of routine inspection, there is any lifeJacket accessories which appears to be defected,
shall be withdrawn or junked and will be replaced with new ones. Do not attemp to repair kit
equipment.
2. Replace CO2 cylinder every 5 years.

the green button /bobbin is attached)
 Repack the lifejacket correctly.
26 WEEKS
 Remove the cylinder and check the operating head.
(by pulling the lanyard and checking that the firing pin travels
forward and returns freely, and the pin is not worn or bent).
Take care with the plastic safety clip, which is designed to
break when operated, and may need to be replaced.
 check the air holding properties of the lifejacket by inflating
orally or by handpump and leaving overnight. (if air loss
does occur, return life jacket to manufacture for replacement)
52 WEEKS
 replace Bobbin on the capsule yearly as per recommendatin
from manufacture
