III-PROJECT RATIONALE Teaching music has been difficult in the distance
learning due to the Pandemic. The highest
percentage of Grade in Music is determined by
performance. According to Steinhoff (2016),
children develop their musical skills through
imitating and memorizing the rhythm and tones
of songs such as clapping to a beat and singing
in tune. However, the pandemic has brought
hardship in instruction and in learning since
music is a performing art, its instruction also
needs to be demonstrated. Without proper
demonstration of Musical concepts, accurate
application of Musical elements, rhythm and
melody is compromised.
It is the duty of the teacher to provide necessary
intervention to enhance the musical skills of the
students. In coherence to the 1987 Philippine
Constitution Article XVI Section 14 and 15:
Section 14. The state shall foster the preservation,
enrichment, and dynamic evolution of a Filipino
national culture based on the principle of unity in
diversity in a climate of free artistic and
intellectual expression.
Section 15. Arts and letters shall enjoy the
patronage of the State. The State shall conserve,
promote, and popularize the nation’s historical
and cultural heritage and resources, as well as
artistic creations.
Furthermore, due to the deteriorating musical
performances of the students in Music 7, a 5-day
Music Intervention program is proposed to
intervene in the difficulties they are facing in
learning melodic and rhythmic concepts.
