Community Immersion Reflection

Last July 27, 2022 we conducted a community immersion in king’s academy

located in Barangay. Gordon Heights. It’s my second time to attend this kind of
immersion the first is when I am in grade 12.

During the immersion I was assigned to teach inee, the girl in the picture that I am

with. Inee is a smart, kind but quiet little girl. Before I started teaching, I asked a

few things about her, such as how old she is, where she lives and if she has eaten

already. I also noticed that her two sisters were with her. After a few questions, I

asked her if she was able to write her name and she answered yes. I let inee read

the direction of what she was going to do and I was surprised because she can read

excellently. I let her continue reading. In the first task she needs to read and she

has to answer six questions connected to the story she read. I asked her to read the

questions and answer them. Her second task is that she will write something about

herself, at first she had a hard time thinking of what to put in it, but I helped her
and I started asking questions about hem and that's what we wrote on the

questionnaire.

All the children, teachers and also their parents are very nice. They gave us a warm

welcome. I and my group mates prepare food and drinks and some candies for the

kids. I saw how happy and active the children were while they were listening to us.

We laid out activities for us and the children that were meant to be fun and social-

oriented. At the end of half day community services conducted, I got to learn a lot

about those children and the environment that they had been thrust into.

At the end of it all, I am glad that I chose to attend the immersion.. I got to learn a

lot about the community I was involved in. I can conclude that all our hard work

and labor during the immersion had produced wonderful fruits and were just so

happy that we made lot of children and parents smile. Our experienced is tiring yet

FUN! This really was a worthwhile learning experience.

As I am a future educator I am glad and happy for this kind of experience. I can

say that I can use these things when I am in the field study. And I am sure I will be

an effective teacher to my student because I experienced it myself.  I learned to

become independent and face the responsibility being task on me. I learned to

socialize with different people especially with kids whatever their status in the
society. And most important I learned how to respect life and thankful for what I

have right now.
