Aims of the lesson: - to reinforce the names of animals by using `there is/there is not/is there?`
and `there are/there are not/are there?`
- to consolidate the knowledge about farm animals and wild animals
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
O1: remember names of animals and discover new ones
O2: recall the form, spelling and uses of `there is`, `there are` in the affirmative, interrogative
and negative form
O3: practise the use of `there is` and `there are`
O4: recall the form and spelling the names of animals

Activity 1

Teacher sks students if they like animals and what kind of animals they know. Students try to
find and say as many animals as they can in 2 minutes.

Activity 2
Teacher directs students to a link where they will watch a short video to reinforce the knowledge
about ”there is” and ”there are”.

Activity 3
Teacher organizes students for a listening activity. Explains that students will watch a video with
the volume turned off first and they will have to pay attention to the names of animals they see
written on the screen in order to illustrate the signification of the text. Then they will listen to the
song again, this time with sound and they have to choose the right snapshot of the video and
write in their notebooks the names of the animals they hear. They have to use coloured pencils.

Activity 4
Students have to answer to some questions about the song.
1. Is there a cow in the song?
2.Is there a white hen?
3.Are the horses big or small?
4.Are there four bears?
5. How many baby birds are there in the tree?

Activity 5
Teacher ssks students to spell animals` names.
Remembers students the spelling rules for the affirmative, interrogative and negative of `there is`
and `there are`, then elicits the use of them.

Activity 6
Students will play a musical game about animals. First they have to match the word with the
picture. They have the possibility to hear and to repeat the names of the animals. After the game
is over teacher asks students to make oral sentences about animals in the game using ``there
is/there isn`t`` and `there are/there aren`t` and to say the sounds animals make. In the same time
they have to move like animals.

Activity 7

Students have to group the animals into two appropriate groups, farm animals or wild animals.
Draw the cards with the animals in the appropriate group. Read the names of the animals aloud.
At the end press the check button! There is a surprise for the children at the end of the game.
